Summit Youth Baseball & Softball (SYBS): Frequently Asked Q's
Frequently Asked Questions
Can girls play baseball?
Girls can play in the baseball program as long as they want. The fast pitch softball program is an alternative program for girls only.
What equipment will my player need?
Your player will need a glove and pair of cleats - tennis shoes are fine for T-ball and Machine Pitch. Helmets, catching gear, bats and balls are provided for each team. Players can use their own bats and helmets if they meet current Little League standards, indicated by the Little League logo. Players will receive a team shirt and ball cap.
Can I coach my child?
All parents who are committed to help children learn and succeed are encouraged to apply for a coach, assistant coach or umpire position. Please fill out the Volunteer Application form available to download under Spring 2009 Registration - Documents and submit it with your player’s registration form.
Is financial assistance available?
Yes. Assistance is based upon participation in Summit County School District's Free and Reduced Lunch program.
What is Tournament Play?
Tournament Play (also known as All Stars) is Little League’s ‘second season’ cumulating in the Little League World Series. SYBS will field as many teams as possible in the minor, major and junior divisions of both baseball and softball. Players must be nominated by their coaches and attend tryouts. Selected players must commit to a busy practice and game schedule and pay an additional $30 Tournament fee.
