Heading into the conference weekend, the Pride had lost four straight games. Never in Coach Dintaman’s tenure has there been a streak like that and it wouldn’t stop at four. After a very well-pitched loss in game one, the Tartans were able to win the next three games with the same score of 7-2. The series win moves the Pride to 8-4 in OCCAC play.

Game 1

The Matt Kruzel vs. John Gora matchup proved to be a good one as both lefties matched zeros for most of the game. Sinclair’s only real threat came in the 2nd, where they left the bases loaded without scoring a run. In the bottom of the 3rd, Lakeland manufactured the first run of the game with small ball and a base hit from the leftfielder Tony Connacher. Later in the inning with two outs, the Lakers scored two more unearned runs after a throwing error from third basemen Austin Downing. Both teams only managed three hits apiece for the game.

Game 2

Needing to stop the bleeding, the Pride turned to right hander Tyler Sexton and he delivered. Sexton pounded the zone and recorded double digit strikeouts in his complete game performance. The Sinclair offense took a 4-2 lead into the 6th and added on three runs in the last two innings.

Game 3

After sitting out during the week with a sore back, sophomore shortstop Matt Sullivan really wanted to make an impact during the weekend and he did in game three. Sullivan homered in his final two at-bats and drove in six of the seven Tartan runs. On the mound, Stephen Holland gave the Pride a quality start with five strong innings and Scott Haag pitched two scoreless frames to get the save.

Game 4

In the final game of the series, catcher Darwin Argumedo added to his impressive playing career at Lakeland collecting three hits and hitting his first career homerun. Last season, Argumedo made his first conference start at Lakeland and had a huge weekend making him a permanent fixture in the lineup. Sinclair had a familiar story on the mound as Koehler turned in another quality start and Hagg was there for the save.
