SINCLAIR COMPLETES THE SWEEP AT POTOMAC STATE WITH 2-1 WIN!

All season long the Pride have lived by the motto, “Get ‘em on, get ‘em over, get ‘em in.” Today, they forgot the third part. The Tartan offense left thirteen runners on base and couldn’t put a run across the board until the 8th. Joe Ford started the inning off with a walk and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Nick McGill. Austin Downing’s deep fly ball to right advanced Ford to third and Drew Williams drew a two out walk. With two outs, Mike Maddle came through with an RBI single tying the game at one. Matt Kruzel entered the game in the bottom of the inning after starter Stephen Holland provided another great outing (7IP ER 6 K’s.) Kruzel set them down in order 1-2-3 and the scored remained tied heading to the 9th. Taylor Neal led things off with a base hit to left and advanced to third on a wild pitch and a passed ball. Neither Jon Lowe nor Joe Ford could score Neal from third and that brought McGill to the plate. McGill walked and with runners at the corners another wild pitch scored Taylor Neal to give Sinclair a 2-1 lead. Kruzel gave up a pair of hits in the bottom of the 9th, but left both runners on base, striking out the final batter of the game.

Final Score: Sinclair 2 Potomac State 1

WP: Matt Kruzel (2-0) 2 IP 2 H 4 K’s

Offensive Leaders: Joe Ford 0-1 R SAC 3 BB’s, Mike Maddle 1-2 SAC BB RBI, Taylor Neal 1-3 RS, Drew Williams 0-1 3 BB’s.

The win extends Sinclair’s streak to four and overall record to 10-2. Next up on the schedule is a double-header against Ashland University on Tuesday at Grady's Field. Corey Johnson and Brock Trimbur will start on the mound for the Pride.
