SAY of Chicago: My Site News
COACH: Each team needs at least one coach. Previous soccer experience is not necessary. All coaches will be required to attend a coach's clinic sponsored by SAY. Training in basic soccer skills will also be provided to kids by age group. You are responsible for getting your team organized on time, so that games begin promptly. With the aid of your assistant coach you will set the line-up and make substitutions. Enthusiasm and good sportsmanship are what's important here. Every coach will receive a coach's polo shirt, whistle and two soccer balls.
ASSISTANT COACH: The assistant will help the coach with the duties mentioned above and will receive a shirt and whistle as well. The assistant coach should help keep track of the two balls the league will provide each team.
TEAM MANAGER: The manager will set up a snack schedule indicating who is responsible for bringing healthy snacks and water/juice for each game as well as making sure that all waste is cleaned up and properly disposed of. The manager is also responsible for creating a phone tree to communicate to the team members when games must be cancelled due to weather or alerting the team about upcoming events.
KICK OFF FUN FAIR: Parents are needed to help with set-up, run some games and pitch in when needed on the afternoon of the event.
SOCCER BANQUET: Held in October, parents are needed to help with set-up, serving of food, collecting admission fee and assisting the Board member chairperson.
