Saturday, November 5th, the state champion UT Women's Lacrosse team will put on a clinic for girls from 3rd-8th grade at Clint Small Middle School from 9:00-11:00am.
"We have 82 boys youth teams in Austin and only a handful of programs for girls - that's a shame," says SALA President Derek Craig. "South Austin Lacrosse is committed to providing an opportunity for both boys and girls to play and the UT women's team was eager to come out, help spread the word about the sport that's spreading like wildfire across the country."
The clinic is open to girls from all over the South Austin area, whether they're veteran players or just interested in trying it. SALA will provide equipment for the participants to use and there's no charge for attendance.
"Over 98% of the players who have played on our lacrosse teams will continue to play," states Craig. "It's an amazing, addictive sport that more girls need to know about."
Due to an increase in interest, we'll have two programs this Fall:
Top Dog Fall Clinic: The best way to start your lacrosse experience. The Fall Clinic is part of the Top Dog Lacrosse training program and ideal for players who have never played, or would like to perfect their skills before pre-season tournaments start in December. We’ll have eight sessions over four weeks and progress from basic stick skills to game fundamentals to let them experience the sport in a non-contact, learning environment. Online registration and payment is available at www.topdoglacrosse.com or email Coach Craig (derek@southaustinlax.org) and he'll send you the forms if you prefer to pay by check.

We anticipate 2-3 tournaments with 3-4 games at each and would like to have Lightning, Junior and Senior squads representing us.
