Welcome Back! The 2009 South Anchorage Girls Soccer teams want to invite you to check out their Website. We got a late start this year and are working hard to get all the information, photos, and graphics in place. We appreciate your patience and welcome any suggestions for improving on the content and design of the site.
The coaching staff is back in full force. Brian Farrell, director of the Girls Soccer program, is back as head coach of the Varsity team. Also returning are assistant coaches John Wettin (asst. varsity), Grace Dinneen (asst. varsity), Robert DeVassie (asst. varsity & Head Coach JV), Stephanie Seward (Head Coach "C" team).
This should be a truly exciting year for our team. After dominating the State soccer play in 2008, it will be very interesting to see how the girls will fare. It is a fairly young team; we lost seven seniors. This year's team is led by four returning seniors, all of whom started last year and should provide leadership to the underclassmen. However, several of the underclassmen were varsity starters last year and some have moved up from the very successful JV team of last year. We also want to welcome our sole Freshman to the varsity team - Rebecca Rogers. Chugiak and Service are returning with extremely strong teams as neither lost many players to graduation. The rest of the conference will be tough, but Chugiak and Service will be the tough teams to beat. The girls will definitely have to bring their "A" game to the pitch when we play them. I suspect many teams will write South off as a rebuilding team this yeare, but South will surprise many people this year. Good Luck to the Lady Wolverines as they prepare to defend their 2008 title as Conference champions and State Cup finalist!
