Rowan University Cheer: Welcome
Our mission is to represent the university with outstanding school spirit all while maintaining good GPAs and demonstrating strong characteristics of leaders. We will give back to the community and establish positive relationships with our peers. We are aware of the dedication it takes to be a college athlete and are 100% dedicated to pushing ourselves to our highest abilities. When it comes to teamwork, we are the defining definition. We hold pride in our brown and gold and wear these colors with honor. Our ultimate goal is to inspire the youth and older generations alike.

This past weekend in Baltimore, MD, the RU cheerleaders competed in the Titan Championship hosted by Cheer Tech. Once again, they had an awesome weekend and came in 1st place. This was their last competition of the season. They are ready to take on what comes to them next season. They all will miss their seniors dearly and wish them the best of luck in whatever they do after graduation. Once again, Congrats and we can't wait to see how next season goes!

Congrats to the RU cheerleaders on their 1st place finish at the ECC SHore Showdown in Wildwood, NJ this past weekend. Along with their 1st place win, they were named Grand Champions on the All-Star Level 6/All-Girl College teams. The team is now getting ready for their last competition in Baltimore, MD this weekend. Once again, Congrats and GO RU!!

This year we are going to have seperate tryouts for current students and incoming freshman and transfers.
For all current students tryouts will be held in the Rec Center on Friday May 1, 2009, from 6pm-8pm. In this time period, you will learn a dance and cheer and then will have to perform both in front of the judges. You will also be asked to do 3 different jumps. One must be a toe-touch and the other two may be of your choice. You will also be asked to show any tumbling. It is not required, but if you can do a cartwheel we would atleast like to see that. Finally, be prepared to do 20 push-ups (no female) and 30 full sit-ups as your fitness test.
For all incoming freshman and transfer students, your tryout will be a video tryout. Your Videos must be mailed in NO LATER THAN June 12th, 2009. In you tryout packet you will need to include:
- Quick bio and overview of accomplishments
- Tumbling-Not a tumbler? That's ok, but we must see at least a forward roll & cartwheel. You may also have a spotter for any standing or running tumbling.
- 4 jumps (toe-touch mandatory) additional jumps may include fronts, pikes, doubles, etc.
- 1 dance (no less than four 8 counts)
- 1 cheer
- 20 push-ups (no female)
- 30 full sit-ups (you may have someone hold your feet down)
- SPIRIT!!!!!!
You may also have previous routines, stunts, and tumbling in your video, but please remember it will not have an impact on the judging process.
The video must be no longer than 10 mins.
Your video packet must include:
- Proof of acceptance from Rowan University
- Try-out registration form
- Resume
Decisions will be made no later than July 1st; you will be notified during this time period if you will be invited to the Rowan cheer camp held in August. During this time period your cheer dues will be due. (**We will be attending a stunt camp with Top Gun Elite; dates for this is July 17th-19th. Dues will be slightly increased to cover the costs for camp. Please keep these dates open and try to schedule any vacations around this time).
