By the end of the summer RETC had grown to over 40 youth members.  In the spring 2007 Coach Kent began teaching at both Woodcreek & Oakmont High Schools and became the co-head T&F coach at Granite Bay High School focusing on sprinters and hurdlers.

Coach Adarian (Horizontal Jumps)

Adarian Barr is the Director and CEO of Next Level Athletics and Fitness. He has been involved in athletics since the age of 9 when he began competing. He is deeply passionate about athletics and feels strongly about aiding in the positive advancement of all sports.

Adarian was Californias High School Boys Triple Jump State Champion. After high school he attended the University of Colorado, Boulder and California State University, Chico where he still holds school records. After college he went on to coach at the collegiate level. He coached both Cross Country and Track and Field at Division 1 through Division 3 schools including Indiana State University. He has been coaching for over 17 years producing numerous Collegiate Track and Field Conference Champions, All-Americans, All Conference and School record holders.

Adarian has a Masters Degree in Physical Education; is a USATF Level I Lead Instructor; a USATF Level II Certified Coach in sprints, jumps, hurdles and relays; and a NESTA Speed Agility Quickness Trainer.

Adarian still competes and is a ranked and champion master athlete. In 2006 he was the number 1 ranked USA Masters Track and Field long and triple jumper in the 40-44 age group. In 2007 he was the number 1 and 2 ranked USA Masters Track and Field triple and long jumper in the 40-44 age group.

Next Level Athletics and Fitness is Adarians next great accomplishment. It started back in 1999 with the creation of the Combo Lift. The Combo Lift came about because there was a need for a lift that would work multi-joints; that could be used to build speed, power and strength for his track athletes at Bethany College. Next Level Athletics and Fitness has allowed Adarian to continue his passion for knowledge of athletics and to share this knowledge with anyone with an open mind and an equal passion for pushing human performances.

Coach Chad (Cross Country Sub-Bantam / Bantam Squad Coach)

  • Certified USATF Level 1 (2008)
  • Joined RETC Coaching Staff Fall of 2007

Coach Chad began seriously competing in Track and Field his sophomore year at Roseville High School.  Starting out as a sprinter he didn’t have too much success at the short sprints, failing to qualify for the sectional meet.  After High School he went on to Sierra Junior College in Rocklin and moved up in distance to the 400 meters and Long Jump and well as the relays.  After two years of not advancing past NorCal Junior College Trials, he moved up in distance once again when he walked on at CSU Sacramento to the 800 meters.  He placed 6th in the America West Conference meet in his final collegiate meet in 1996.  Realizing that maybe his potential was in the distance events he continued to move up until running his first Marathon in 1998.  Since that time he continued to progress in the event with the peak being his personal best of 2:22 in 2002 that qualified him for the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in Birmingham, AL.  Chad continues to compete in many road races in the area looking to once again earn a birth to the U.S. Olympic Trials, while still coaching several sports throughout the year.

Coach David (Sub-Bantam / Bantam Squad Coach)
• Certified USATF Level 1 coach
• Joined RETC coaching staff fall 2006

Not a naturally gifted athlete, Coach David used to be the small chubby kid who was the first one cut or the last one picked for every team in school.  He gave up athletics altogether during his sophomore year at Jesuit High School after trying cross-country and falling so far behind the other runners that he got lost in Carmichael.  Coach David redisovered running as an out-of-shape computer engineer, finishing his first 10k road race in 1999.  He fell in love with distance running, and has since lost 35 pounds and completed dozens of road races, a few triathlons, and six marathons including Boston in 2006.  David has worked extensively with youth in various roles, including junior high basketball coach, Sunday school teacher, and volunteer at the school his children attend.

  • Best marathon:  3:11:41, 2005 Napa Valley Marathon, Boston qualifier

Olympian, Jeanette Allred-Powless, was a three-time (age-group) world record holder in running events back in the 1970’s. An alumnus of American River College, she was the 1982 California Community College 1500-meter champion, undefeated, with the nation’s fastest time for a community college student-athlete. Returning to ARC in 2001, she now leads the rich tradition of quality cross country and track teams.

Jeanette attended California State University, Northridge on a track and field scholarship where she earned her BS in Commercial Recreation/Small Business Administration. From there she went to Guam where she began teaching aerobics and then became assistant manager of a Clark Hatch Fitness Chain. She also began personal training and hosting numerous running and triathlon events on Guam while continuing her athletic competitions across the globe.

Allred-Powless qualified by winning three (3) consecutive Olympic Trials for Guam in the women’s marathon in Seoul, Korea-1988, Barcelona, Spain-1992, and Atlanta, Georgia-1996. She still holds Guam’s Nations Best Olympic finish, with her 36th place finish in the Barcelona Marathon. Also, Jeanette was awarded the honor of top 10 female athletes of the century.

Another title included the Guam’s top triathlete. She met her husband Jack, the nations top male triathlete, who has completed 13 Ironman Triathlons including seven (7) World Championships in Hawaii. He was in the US Air Force and they were re-stationed to Hurlburt Field, Florida. While in Florida, Jeanette became the physical fitness director for the YMCA. She certified and trained both land and water fitness instructors while teaching PE and developing personal training and various other programs and activities.

Jeanette finished up her MS at the University of West Florida before getting re-stationed to Beale AFB, CA. She began coaching and teaching at Sierra College and was the Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country coach from 1998-2000. In 2001 she completed her full circle and came back to her original roots at American River College.

In 2003, her kids, Shayna (age 9) and Neilson (age 7) were 2nd and 3rd in the nation at the Ironkids National Triathlon Championships. Their family resides in Roseville where all four continue swimming, biking, and running.

Jeanette says one goal will be to "coach the ‘lady Beavers’ to break my 1500 meter school record at ARC--that will be one of the highlights of my coaching career."
