Welcome to Rockville Youth Baseball: Spring - 2012 Divisions

Select Season:  
Juniors
(13-15 yrs-old) - Mound is 60'6" and bases are 90'. This is the player's first experience playing on the "big field". Practices and home games will be held at the Rockville Center (2 miles from the Rockville School Park). Player development and INSTRUCTION remains a focus. Rockville will play teams from neighboring leagues which gives players have the opportunity to "travel" to other venues for away games. This is a COMPETITIVE league.

Majors
(11 - 12 year old) - Mound is 50' and bases are 70'. Player development and INSTRUCTION remain a focus. New elements such as leads while on base are introduced. This is a COMPETITIVE league.

Minors
(9-10 yrs-old) - Players will begin pitching to other players at this level. The mound is 46' and the bases are 60'. Player development and INSTRUCTION continues to be a focus. Positions such as Pitcher and Catcher become more important and other aspects of baseball are introduced -- such as base stealing. This is a COMPETITIVE league.

Rookie
(7-8 yrs-old) - For players with more experience hitting from a pitching machine. First level with no tee as backup. Players will follow traditional baseball rules (keeping track of outs, runs scored, etc). This is a COMPETITIVE League with playoffs along with continued INSTRUCTION.

Jr. Rookie
(5-7 yrs-old) - Players will begin to hit from a pitching machine at a lower speed. A coach will pitch as backup. INSTRUCTIONAL league where players will learn more in-depth fundamentals of baseball in a more competitive environment.

Tee Ball
(4-6 yrs-old) - For the youngest of players with little to no experience. Players will try to hit a ball thrown from a coach from a short distance. A tee will be used as backup. All players hit and play the field each inning. This is purely an INSTRUCTIONAL league, where players will learn the basics of the sport.
