Vashon Wrestling Off Season Itineraries Vashon Wrestling Off Season Itineraries---- What you can do to get better. 1. Go to Wrestling Camp. Some possibilities will be listed below. Check with any of the coaches for more details. 2. Wrestle Freestyle. We will have the room opened from 5:30- 7:15 on Monday and Wednesday. Come, roll around, learn new techniques and have fun. All you need is a USA Card—25 dollars. A tournament schedule is listed below. 3. Lift Weights. The weight room will be open on Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:00. You can also take weight training class or other options. 4. Stay Active and Stay Out of Trouble. Enough said. (Also, pay attention to fundraisers, particularly in August, and maybe during the festival.) $$$We can contend for League, Regional and State Championships next year, but you guys need to buy in on it. Get on the bus! We can all do it together. And it’ll be fun!$$$ Camps: Lakeside Intensive: June 25th-July 1st. A tough camp for the serious wrestler. We would like to bring a larger number of wrestlers this year and it’ll make everyone better. I’ll have fliers soon, and you can send them in and we’ll work out rides in June sometime. (Very reasonable price-wise.) Lake Stevens Technique Camp—June 20-24 (or thereabouts). May be a good warm-up for the Intensive. (Very reasonable price-wise. Keep in mind that it is a commuter camp.) I will also have more fliers and info as spring approaches. Talk to me if these dates are a problem. ***** Also remember our clinic on April 2nd and 3rd. Here on Vashon with some of the best wrestlers in the state traveling over here. !!! Also, The Blomgren Brothers will be putting on a clinic in Sequim on Tuesday, June 21st. Anyone’s welcome and it’s free of charge—only a little gas money and ferry ticket. Freestyle Tournaments: Good ones to go to. Put them on your calendar now. This shouldn’t conflict much with your other sports, and it is a great way to get competition (and instruction) in a more carefree setting. (Darren Fox or Mike M will be selling USA cards.) --Northwest Regionals in Battleground, Wa. March 25-27 --April 2nd and 3rd—Vashon Freestyle Wrestling Clinic, Saturday and Sunday. --Greco State—April 23rd. --Vegas Southwest Regionals—April 27-29. --Freestyle State—May 7th. There will be training camps and nationals in June and July. There are also great smaller tournaments that you can go to each weekend. |
