Washington Intensive Wrestling Camp 2005 Washington Intensive As summer is quickly approaching, so is the need to begin planning for your wrestling training in the off-season. Yesterday is gone and you have great control over how prepared you will be for next season. The saying that ¡§the day will come, when Winter will ask, what were you doing in the summer,¡¨ is very true. We hope you and your team are up for a great physical challenge and desire to learn from some of the best in our sport: Boise State, Oregon State, Indiana, NIC, Highline, Simon Fraser, Michigan, Etc.. The "WA INTENSIVE" shirts are a common sight at the Championships in Tacoma and tournaments around the State. We just claimed our 4th title in eight years and our summer training is a huge part of our winter success. I encourage you to compare wrestling camps and costs. I am confident that dollar for dollar we provide the best environment for your program in a seven day camp. You will find that most camps are running very close to $100.00 per day. We offer the "intensive" environment for under $40.00 per day. How do I help my kids raise the money? This has really become rather simple for us. I tell my guys to go door-to-door and offer to do work. It is their goal to find six $50.00 jobs around their neighborhood. (firewood, lawn care, weeding, rocks, crops, animals) This places ownership on the athlete and relieves some pressure for the parents. We are offering only one camp this summer and it will be taking place at Lakeside High School. By bringing the camp to a high school site we are able to reduce costs to you, hopefully providing opportunities for more of your team to attend as a unit. You will be staying in tents. You should bring a large tent ¡V start checking with family and friends. Organize your team, so that each teammate has a comfortable place to stay. In case of very poor weather, we do have access to indoor facilities for each team in attendance. We are traditionally blessed with sunshine, although 2002 found an exciting thunder storm, adding to the intensity of the environment. We want to provide a personalized camp experience for each of you. We want you to get to know us as coaches and clinicians. We want the night-time leadership events to have a meaningful impact on your team next year and your life after camp. We are very excited about our guest clinicians that will be present at the ¡§Washington Intensive¡¨ again this summer. If you have a goal of wrestling in college, each of our clinicians have the connections to find you a suitable collegiate experience. WHAT DO WE NEED YOU TO DO? View this like a match ¡V ¡§you want to finish scoring. Get copies of the flyer to each of the athletes you want to come to camp with you. Call Coach Jones with your name. This will secure yourself a spot at camp. Email: sjones@9mile.org or message phone at (509) 467-5279. Began making your preparation plans prior to camp. (fundraisers, workouts, etc) Best wishes on your Spring and Summer plans, and I do look forward to our summer training. Check the handouts page on this site for more information.
