RHLL Season

The season includes festive Opening Day activities, Bat-a-Thon competition, All-star games under the lights, and end of season tournament play, wrapped around a full season of exciting games.  It all starts with registration in January and tryouts (Draft Divisions only) in February followed with organizing teams in the month of March.  Practices are held during April with the season running from the end of April through June, except Senior Division, which starts at the end of May to accommodate school team players and ends in early July.

Fundraiser

All players participate (except Senior and Junior Divisions) in our Opening Day Bat-A-Thon fundraiser. This crucial fundraiser, aimed at getting our league off to a great season, is the only one held for the season.

Prizes are awarded to players in each division for the longest hits and most pledges along with those teams who gather the most pledges.

Players who are not able to be at opening day still are to turn in their pledge sheets along with all pledge money.

Practices / Games

As weather permits, RHLL generally allows a maximum of three team events (practices/games) per week.  Team managers request practice fields through RHLL, which are objectively assigned.  RHLL schedules all games, including Rain Make-ups.  Teams normally play 2 to 3 games per week.

Softball Enrollment

RHLL is well known for a very good and competitive baseball program. What isn’t as well known is that the RHLL Softball program is as good as any in the area. Our Tournament Softball teams compete in the State Championship Tournament on a regular basis.
The amazing thing about this is the softball program is ¼ the size of our baseball program. We want to increase the number of girls that enroll with RHLL softball program. The girls program starts at 5 year old with T-ball and moves to softball at age 7. The teams are hand picked by the league from age 7 until 10 to help put the girls on teams with their friends. From 11 until 16, the teams are selected by draft. RHLL has become a feeder program for the high school softball programs in the area. RHLL has purchased all new equipment for softball in the past 2 years and the Board of Directors is dedicated to increasing the size of our softball program.
We want to invite girls of all ages to participate in RHLL softball program and have fun with their friends.

Team Assignments & Structure

Teams are structured using the following guidelines:
RHLL Board appoints all team managers and coaches.
T-ball, Rookie BB & SB, and Minor SB Division team assignments;
·     RHLL Board will assign players to teams.
·     Assigned by school as much as possible - some teams may have players from different schools.
·     Requests to play for a particular manager or with friends will be highly considered, but there will be no promises, as the Board of Directors reserves the right to assign players to teams as necessary.
·     At no time may a team have more that the maximum number of players as set by the RHLL Board.

Draft Division (AA BB, AAA BB, Major BB & SB, Junior BB, and Senior BB & SB);
·     Players in draft divisions will receive a draft rating at a tryout session.
·     Managers from each division will draft players to their teams following RHLL Draft guidelines.
Exceptions to the draft are Returning Major BB players who return to their previous team.
