RHLL: 2009 Season Divisions

Rookie SB
ROOKIE SOFTBALL: (girls, ages 7-8) Coach pitch with emphasis on learning the fundamentals and having fun. Players assigned to teams based on school whenever possible.

Minor SB
MINOR SOFTBALL: (girls, ages 9-10) Player pitches at the beginning level of competitive play. Players are taught skills needed in the higher levels, including pitching, without the fear of failure. All players bat and play a minimum number of defensive innings. Players assigned to teams based on school whenever possible.

Major SB
MAJOR SOFTBALL: (girls, ages 11-12) Player fast pitch with increased competition and skill development while at the same time maintaining the fun aspects of the game rather that a ‘win at all costs’ attitude. All players bat in the batting order and play in minimum number of defensive innings. Players assigned to teams based on schools whenever possible.

Senior SB
SENIOR SOFTBALL: (girls, ages 13-16) Fast pitch division where players refine their skills in a competitive, but fun atmosphere. Official Little League substitution rules apply. Players are drafted by a manager.

Major BB
BASEBALL MAJORS: (boys, ages 10-12) Traditional Little League baseball at it’s finest. Players experience our most advanced level of competitive ball for this age group. Our most experienced managers will concentrate on developing the skills that the players have been taught in the lower levels. Official Little League substitution rules apply with each player participating in a minimum of 2 defensive innings and one time at bat. Managers will draft a team of twelve players. Players drafted to the Majors have ‘duration of title’, meaning that they will remain with the same team, as well as automatically reassigned to last years’ team and do not participate in tryouts during their time in the Majors division.

AA BB
BASEBALL AA: (boys, ages 9-10) Player pitch is our beginning level of competitive play. Players are taught skills needed in the higher levels and are given the opportunity to learn without the fear of failing. Learning is the key to success. A 3-inning mandatory playing rule will be in effect. Everyone bats around in the order. A manager drafts teams.

TBall
T-BALL – (co-ed, ages 5-6) Boys and girls explore the game and learn basics while having fun. Players assigned to teams based on schools whenever possible.

Rookie North BB
BASEBALL ROOKIES: (boys, ages 7-8) Coach pitch with an emphasis on continuing to learn the basics. Introduces the basic skills that the players will need to play at a higher level. Players assigned to teams based on schools whenever possible.

Rookie South BB
BASEBALL ROOKIES: (boys, ages 7-8) Coach pitch with an emphasis on continuing to learn the basics. Introduces the basic skills that the players will need to play at a higher level. Players assigned to teams based on schools whenever possible.

Junior BB
BASEBALL JUNIORS: (boys, ages 13-14) A competitive level of play for this age group where players make the transition to longer base and pitching distances. A manager drafts teams. This division is primarily for 13 year olds.

Senior BB
BASEBALL SENIORS: (boys, ages 14-16) A competitive ‘duration of title’ division with players remaining with their senior team for their entire time in the senior division. A manager drafts teams. Players with ‘duration of title’ will automatically be reassigned to last years’ team and do not participate in tryouts.

AAA BB
BASEBALL AAA: (boys, ages 10-12) A key developmental level. A 3-inning mandatory playing rule applies. Everyone bats around in the order. Although this division is competitive, learning is still more important than winning. A manager drafts teams.
