Braves '10 win WWBA National Championship
After forming the Braves ’10 team in the fall of 2005 it was obvious they would be a national contender. Having finish in the top 5 in all national tournaments within their age group, the Braves ’10 put it all together at the WWBA 16U National Championship. The Braves ’10 defeated the Jack Cust Diamond Jacks 4-3 in a come from behind victory in the bottom of the 7th inning. The Braves ’10 had a perfect 10-0 record for the week. In the course of the 10 games all Braves contributed in this effort. This is the second national championship for the Braves organization and is the first for the ’10 team. The Braves ’10 had quite the following as many of the college coaches attended our games throughout the week. Great Job Braves ‘10 Mitchell Shifflett was named tournament MVP Sunday, June 29
Braves make a run at USA Baseball 16U East Championship but fall short with a 5th Place Finish
The Richmond Braves '10 posted two extra inning victories and two mercy rule victories in pool play along their way to the # 1 seed (no small feat) for championship play. They opened up championship play with a 10-0 victory over the South Fla. Bandits. Thier next game was split over two days due to weather. They posted a 6-1 victory over a very strong Columbus Explorers team from Miami. This victory would put the Braves in the round of 8. Next the Braves squared off against the Orlando Reds. After both teams had a 3 run first inning they both settled down. The Braves would have a 4-3 lead but the Reds came back to take a 6-4 lead midway through the contest. The Braves were able to cut the lead to 6-5 in the fifth and put runners in scoring position in both the sixth and seventh innings but were unable to get the game even. The Braves went 7-1 while scoring 64 runs and only allowing 16. Pitching and defense were stellar all weekend as well as timely hitting. Special thanks to the players from the '11 Braves who all had major contributions to the effort. Congratulations to Mitchell Shifflett who was invited to the USA Baseball Youth 16U Team Trials. This is a huge feat considering the large number of players being considered. Best of luck to Mitchell at the trials.

BRAVES '08 WIN CABA 18U WOOD BAT STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Braves '08 and '09 continue thier dominance over Virginia Baseball. Braves '08 rolled through pool play undefeated and advance to the CABA 18U Wood Bat State Championship game behind Jake Mayers perfect game over the Lynchburg Cardinals. In similar fashion the Braves '09 went undefeated in pool play and stormed in the championship game after defeating the Virginia Cavaliers in a "slug-fest". Braves '09 belted 4 home runs while chasing 4 Cavalier pitchers. This would set up the 4th meeting between these two talented Braves teams. Braves '08 held a 2 games to 1 edge over thier younger squad in previous meetings this year. All games have been very spirited and closely contested this State Championship game did nothing to disappoint. Braves '08 jumped out to a early 3-0 lead in the first inning but had to induce a 6-4-3 double play to stop the Braves '09 rally leaving the score 3-2 Braves '08. Great Job Both Teams. Monday, October 15
Braves Win CABA 18U State Championship Yea Braves Again
It’s a same old story with a different ending. Braves ’08 and Braves’09 rule 18U baseball in Virginia. With both teams going through pool play undefeated and securing both top seeds their 5th meeting of the year was close at hand. Braves ’08 made quick work of Braves South and Western Branch to move into the visitor’s dugout at Prince George High School. Braves ’09 had to come from behind to defeat the Lynchburg Cardinals and then crushed the Manchester Tigers to take their place and the # 1 seed in the home dugout. Braves ’09 jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and added to that lead as the innings added on and the night got colder. Braves ’08 made some noise in the 5th picking up an un-earned run but could not muster enough to catch the ’09 Braves. With this 5-1 victory the Braves ’09 win the CABA 18U State Championship but more importantly beat the high talented Braves ’08 for a second time. The Braves ’09 put on an offensive display this weekend, hitting 6 home runs in 5 games and out scoring their opponents 45-15. Braves ’08 also hit 4 home runs in their run to the finals. GREAT JOB AGAIN BOTH TEAMS. IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THE BEST JUST COME PLAY THE BRAVES Thursday, August 23
Braves Summer in Review
The Braves organization 15U-18U had one of the best summers any organization can have. Over the summer we battled against some 570 other teams from across the country and we always made it near or to the end.
