2009 CAMP OVERVIEW

Richie Grant - Camp Director

The University of Memphis head men’s soccer coach and a native of Dublin, Ireland, Grant was an All-American on three occasions as a player at Green Mountain College, Vermont. After playing professional soccer for the Minnesota Thunder, Grant became the assistant coach at Bloomsburg University, Pennsylvania before becoming the coach at Lambuth University. During his tenure at Lambuth, Grant was instrumental with the growth of the game in West Tennessee as a director of Jackson Soccer Club, and his influence spread throughout the state. In 1999 he was named the head coach at the University of Memphis, was named the Conference USA coach of the year in 2000, and again in 2004. In 2004 Grant’s team took home the C-USA Championship and a birth in the NCAA tournament. In the last five years, The University of Memphis has placed three players on MLS rosters and has been ranked in the top 25 in the country. Grant is heavily involved with the Tennessee State Olympic Development Program and holds the NSCAA Premier License.

The Richie Grant Soccer Camp is well known for its instructional demonstrations which use quality collegiate players from the University of Memphis and other programs to support our lead staff.

Richie Grant Returns To Lambuth University

Lambuth University is located in Jackson, Tennessee, a growing town of 80,000 people. Lambuth is just 80 miles east of Memphis and 120 miles west of Nashville. Jackson is easily accessible by Highways TN 20, U.S. 45 and 70, and Interstate 40. Stately Georgian buildings connected by shaded walkways and spacious lawns characterize the beautiful 50 acre campus. The campus also features air-conditioned rooms, indoor swimming pool, sand volleyball, and bermuda grass fields.

How to Enroll :

Complete application and parental consent form, and mail it along with a check payable to the Richie Grant Soccer Camp. You can find the return address on the application form. Full payment is encouraged. There is also an option for a deposit of $150 with the application and the remaining amount due at registration on the first day of camp. We have limited space so we will accept applications on a first come first served basis. Registration deadline is June 25th, 2009 but may close before then if camp is full. We do not take telephone reservations or credit card payments.

Cancellation Policy :

Those who register and then cannot attend camp will be refunded all but a $50 handling fee. To receive this refund, the camp office at (901) 678-2598 must be notified 24 hours prior to registration on Sunday.

Frequently Asked Questions :

Q - How much money should I bring?

A - Meals are all-you-can-eat and are included in the cost. In the evenings we have a social room that serves pizza and drinks that requires pocket money.

Q - Are trainers on duty?

A - We have athletic trainers on staff 24 hrs a day.

Q - Is there time to swim?

A - This year the pool will not be available for our camp.

Check In/Out :

Campers will register between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The first training session is Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Camp ends on the Thursday following the closing ceremony at 11:30am. Check in locations will be emailed in the information packet.

Kids Camp :

9am - 11:30am Monday-Thursday. Kids need to arrive by 8:45 am. Registration will be at 8:45am on Monday, July 13th at the entrance to the football field.

Camp Ball :

Each camper must have a ball at camp. Bring your own ball or purchase a custom-made, hand-stitched ball. The price of this ball is $15. (Please check the appropriate box on the application.)

Camp Insurance :

Camp Insurance: The Richie Grant Soccer Camp provides secondary accidental/medical insurance. Medical staff is on site 24 hours.

Discounts :

  • $20 discount per camper is available for teams of 10 or more. Team discount will be given on the day of registration if needed. No team discounts for the kids camp.
  • $20 discount per camper is available for brothers and/or sisters in the residential camp.
  • $15 discount per camper is available for brothers and/or sisters in the commuter camp or the kids camp.
Please note: Cannot combine discounts.
Note: only one discount per camper.

Roommate Policy :

We will try our best to honor your roommate request on the application.

Please list only one child as a roommate.

Confirmation :

You will be sent an email once payment is received. An email packet will be sent to campers before the camp date. Please check the website for more information.

Goalkeepers :

The Camp will provide highly specialized training for the goalkeepers. Every goalkeeper will be trained in the tactical awareness, proper technique and psychological approach to the position.
