14U Revolutions Finish 2nd in USSSA Fall Challenge

Congratulations on 2nd place finish in the USSSA Fall Challenge!

The 14U Revolution went 1-1 in pool play and then 3-1 in elimination play to advance to the championship game in the USSSA Fall Challenge Nov 7th and 8th, 2009. Although the team came up short in the championship, they played some great softball and the Mount Vernon Magic was a very strong opponent.

This was the most softball the team has played in a weekend that had a little bit of everything: frosty outfield in the first game Saturday, impromptu field maintenance, a lighting malfunction that gave us 15 minutes of pitch black to meet the other team (thanks Redbirds!), an international tie breaker, and a summer-like Sunday. We had great pitching, long balls, bunts, pickoffs, double plays, shoestring catches, and aggressive smart baserunning.

The coaches were very pleased with the girls' play over the weekend. It was a great way to finish up the fall season and head into winter training!

We want to thank all the girls for their hard work and efforts:

#2 - Valerie, #5 - Tori, #7 - Kendall,
#8 - Taylor,
#13 - Tay Tay, #17 - Kayla,
#18 - Brianna, #25 - Rachel, #28 - Kathryn,
#32 - Lexi, #55 - Marissa, #97 - Stephi

And of course, #21 - Casey, who will be missed in our 2010 tournaments. Her softball skills will be missed but more importantly her softball spirit and dedication to the team and the game. We hope Casey will continue to share her great work ethic and attitude with us throughout the winter.

Thanks Casey!

And thanks to all the parents, family, and friends that came out to support the team, both in this tournament and all season long. We appreciate your support and sacrifice!

Winter training schedule will be finalized shortly and we are looking forward to working hard through the winter in anticipation of getting to and winning championship games in the spring and the summer.

Rain Delay - Potomac River Clash

There is at least a 2 hour rain delay for today's games in the Potomac River Clash. Right now, our game will be at 11:00 AM on Field #4 at Potomack Lakes.

Please have the girls there by 10:15 AM.

Make sure to check the cancellation line at 703-777-0456 just before you leave for the park in case there is a further delay.

Remaining tournament format is single elimination (not double). Games could be 1 hour time limit in order to finish the tournament.

Wednesday, September 16
Use of Heritage HS Field

There will be a lot of activity at Heritage - lots of students, buses, little football kids, etc.  Kids are going to come shooting out from between buses and no good can come of that.

As a rule, please
(a) do not
drive into the back area before 6:30 PM on a weeknight
(b) do not drive past the activity bus (if the activity bus is there after 6:30 PM).

Before 6:30 PM or while the activity bus is there, we can park in the front parking lot and the players (and coaches) can use that opportunity to stretch out and warm up by walking back to softball field :)  Once the activity drops off, bus leaves, and some parking spots open up, you are welcome to drive back.

Please drop them off at the front of the school and have them walk back to the fields before 6:30 PM or if the activity bus is still there. Thanks, your 14U Revolution Coaches
