PWSI 2006 Toys for Tots Champions
It was only one day, but boy what a day. After being delayed a day of playing due to tropical storm Ernesto, the Strikers took to the field ready to play ball. Maybe the day off and being coped up at home played a role, but it was clear from the start that this team was going to be a force to be reckoned with. As the scores at the end of the day would show, all of the teams that participated in this tournament came prepared to win. Game one of the day was decided by a Sara Wingrove penalty kick late in the second half. Game two ended in a tie. Both semi-final matches as well as the championship game where all decided by penalty kicks after regulation play and two overtime periods ended with scores of 0-0. Thanks to the excellent penalty shooting of the Strikers and the tenacity of the goalie, the Strikers game out on top of each of their games to finish the tournament once again. This is truly the beginning of what promises to be an exciting season. CONGRATULATIONS STRIKERS!!
