has been taking pride in producing the highest quality products in the lumber industry for almost 100 years. The old steam engine, once used to power the mill, still stands as testament to the family's strong sense of heritage. Today, we produce many different millworks with the same vigilance the Littrell family originally started sawmilling with three generations ago.
Less than 15 miles off I-65 in Decatur, Alabama, Littrell Lumber Co. Inc. is the epitome of a sawmill deeply rooted in the community. It serves its neighbors and strives to add value to its product and escape the commodity marketplace.
The stumps are visible today where Avery, Sr. harvested the timber in the flood zone when TVA built the hydroelectric dams along the Tennessee River. At that time timber was sawn in small mobile steam powered mills. The Littrell family continued farming and saw milling for two generations. Today, sawmilling is a full time job.
