What do my Registration Fees cover?
Registration fees cover Palomar Conference fees, referee costs, fees for use of the schools, gyms and community parks for practices and games, basic picture packets, football equipment costs, cheer equipment costs, insurance (secondary), liability insurance, and year-end trophies for football and cheerleading participants. In addition, each year we must purchase new uniforms and helmets to replace worn or unsafe equipment.

Each football participant will receive a spirit pack that consists of a t-shirt and shorts and will keep his/her game jersey at the end of the season. Each cheerleading participant will receive a spirit pack that consists of hair ribbon, camp wear (t-shirt & shorts), warm up suits (jacket and pants), and will keep his/her personal uniform attire consisting of shoes, socks and briefs.

This year, RBPW needs to break-even when placing a child on the field during regular season play so parents do not have to be asked for additional funds to help cover regular and ordinary costs that occur during the season, such as football equipment repair or replacement. The Board of Directors organizes a number of fundraisers during the season to go directly to our teams. However, due to minimal sponsorship within our community, we unfortunately have to increase fees to fund all sports activities and remain a viable Association within the Palomar Conference.

You can help keep fees low by assisting RBPW in obtaining corporate and local business sponsorships. If you own or operate a business, or know someone who does that is willing to support our children in RBPW, please contact any Board member.

How can I volunteer to help in the Snack Bar, on the Fields (set-up and tear-down), or with fundraising?
It takes a large number of people to ensure that football and cheer teams and functions operate smoothly throughout the season, and your help is needed and appreciated. If you want to become involved through volunteering, please send an e-mail message to any Board member, or just use the Feedback section of our web site. Click here to download the Pop Warner Volunteer Application.

What fundraising activities are going to happen this year to help offset fees?
Our anticipated fundraisers this year: First Annual Walk-A-Thon, RBPW Sponsored Dances, and others. We are open to ideas that you may have, so be certain to send them to the Fundraising Director or through Feedback.

Sponsorships can make a large impact in defraying costs, lowering fees, and are needed to keep our organization going. If you own, operate, or work for a company that would be willing to sponsor a team or give a donation, please contact any Board member or use Feedback.

Will I be asked to purchase additional items during the season?
It is possible. We have budgeted for all standard costs that typically arise during the season and have allotted for them in the registration fees. Football teams typically ask for a separate donation toward their "Gatorade Fund" or “Orange Fund”. Cheerleading Squads typically ask for a “Slush Fund” to cover additional competition hair ribbons, spirit gifts to opposing team’s cheerleaders, etc. An individual team or squad may also choose to hold their own fundraising even and you may be asked to contribute to that or a league fundraising event. We make every effort to keep this down to a minimum. If you have any questions, you should contact your child’s coach or any board member.

How many days a week will my child(ren) be required to practice?
During the month of August prior to the beginning of school, your child will practice up to five days a week (Monday-Friday). It is mandatory that your child(ren) attend all conditioning practices during this period of time. Failure to do so may cause your child to not particpate in the first game (National Pop Warner Rules). Once school starts, practices will be three days per week, plus one game each Saturday. When schedules are set, they will be available on our web site for you to print and save.

My son is new to football. What should we expect?
The physical conditioning is more intense than other sports. To help prevent injuries, all players must begin conditioning several weeks prior to the beginning of practice in August. Prior to August, 45 minutes of running, push-ups, and sit-ups at least every other day will help make your son's first few weeks in football less demanding.

How long will the season last?
The RBPW season officially begins with practices on the first Monday in August (or on the first day of August) and games starting on the first Saturday in September. The season will continue through the end of November and possibly through the middle of December, if your child's team or squad enters regional and/or national championships/competitions.

Will my child be required to travel to other fields to play or cheer?
Yes. Although RBPW's home practice field is located at the Rancho Bernardo Community Park, we have expanded our league so much and with other youth sports also utilizing RB Community Park, we may have to use some of the local school fields for practices for football and cheer. In addition, cheer may also practice at local area gyms. Practice locations will be determined prior to the start of the season and may change during the season. You will be informed of locations and location changes from your child’s coach.

On Saturdays, RBPW home games are played either at Rancho Bernardo High School or RB Community Park. Away games will be played at the locations of other Palomar Conference association’s home fields which are located in Poway, Rancho Penasquitos, San Marcos, Oceanside, Escondido, Vista, Carlsbad, Torrey Pines, Ramona, Fallbrook, Valley Center, San Dieguito, Murrieta, Menifee and Temecula. The Schedule will list the locations of each game with links to maps and driving directions. RBPW has no control over the scheduling of the games and every attempt is made that each team in each association has a fair amount of home games.

If your child advances to playoff games or competitions, travel may expand to the hosting association/conference of that event. You will be notified in advance of the time and locations of those events. For a list of other conferences in the same region as RBPW, please visit the Palomar Conference Website. A link is provided on the “Links” page.

Is it possible that my child will participate in tournaments or championship games out of town?
Yes, very possible. Over the past few years, RBPW has had several football teams many cheer squads qualify for Regional Championships and National Championships. If your child’s football team or cheer squad wins (or places) at their local championship or competition, they will advance to the regional games/competition and possibly the national games/competitions. Location of the regional games/competitions changes each year depending upon the conference that wins the bid to host the event. National games/competitions are held at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. If your child advances past local games/competitions, additional fundraising activities may/will occur with your child’s team to offset travel and expenses. Please be aware, that some "upfront" fees are required and must be paid before traveling to National games/competitions and possibly regional games/competitions.

What if my child has a birthday party or other non-RBPW activity planned during a scheduled practice or game?
If at all possible, please do not schedule non-RBPW activities during practice and game times. To help continue our winning tradition, all players and their parents must make a commitment to be available for all practices and games. Football and cheerleading require a serious commitment. Coaches enforce strict practice rules in preparing for games and cheer competitions.
