Welcome to the official site of Rainier District Little League, a member of Washington State's District 7. Rainier District Little League offers a fun baseball environment for 5-18 year-old kids living in the South Seattle area. The 2009 season continues to highlight the commitment of our league to our children, our neighborhoods and the game of baseball. Come see the new batting cage being installed at our league's signature field, Rainier Playfield. Also, stay tuned for news regarding the recent awarding of grant money for the improvement of Brighton Playfield. Remember, our league relies on the voluntary efforts of people like you. Let's enrich all of our lives and, "Play ball!" Rainier Little League fairs well in Tournament of Champions Majors Division champion Silver Fork beat the Renton Cardinals 12-2 in Round One of the TOC held at Normandy Park on June 19, 2009. The game was called in the fourth inning due to the 10-run rule. Jay Won hit two home runs over the fence to lead the Forks. The following day, in the tournament's semi-finals, Silver Fork took perrenial powerhouse West Seattle into extra innings before succumbing 1-0 in seven innings. Starting pitcher Nils Whisman displayed his full arsenal of pitches in a masterful performance. With one out in the bottom of the seventh, West Seattle had a runner on third. A fly ball to the outfield was caught by Kevin Kitnikone, who's strike to the plate just missed nailing the runner and extending the game. After the game, the home plate umpired declared the game, "the best I've ever seen in Little League." Minors Division champion Winderemere Real Estate had an equally exciting finish to their work in the tournament. Windermere beat their South Highline National counterparts 5-1 on June 20, 2009, at Normandy Park. The win put Winderemere into the finals against the South Highline American champs. There, Windermere narrowly lost 4-3 when South Highline American pushed across a run in the bottom of the sixth. Starting pitcher Mario Beavers pitched four innings for Windermere, giving up but two hits and striking out ten. Kenny McCormick went 2-3 with two RBIs in the effort, and was picked as one of the two most valuable players of the Minors tournament. Congratulations to both Rainier teams for their fine showings.
