Travel Program: My Site News

It's that time of year again......travel team tryouts are right around the corner. All the information that you need can be found in Newsletter in the handouts section. In the handouts section you will find the forms that every player (new and returning) needs to fill out to register for the 2012 - 2013 Travel Season.

All new and returning players need to register before tryouts.  Registration will be done on-line using our on-line registration system (http://www.sportssignup.com/rosetreesoccer.start) or by following the link on our website (www.rosetreesoccer.org).  Once you register you will be able to pay on-line with a credit card or by mailing us a check.    There are other items that we will need from each player.  You can either mail them in or come in person to drop them off at Cherry Street on Saturday, April 21st 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m or Wednesday, April 25th 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Registrations need to include:

• EPYSA RG-6 (available under handouts on website)
• Clear Copy of State Issued Birth Certificate - this is for players who did not play travel for RTSC last year
• All players will be required to e-mail a picture to their coach - we ask that you do this after you are placed on a team
• All players will be required to give their coach the EPYSA Medical Release Form – we ask that you do this after you are placed on a team; if turned in with registration it will not be saved
• Registration Fee of $175 per player – Register by April 20th and receive the early registration rate of $150

(It is the policy of RTSC that no player is denied the opportunity to participate in the sport of soccer for financial reasons.  Please contact the club when registering if you have a financial hardship.  We do have a RTSC Financial Aid Form that you will be asked to fill out - contact us for details.)

PLAYERS CAN NOT TRY OUT WITHOUT REGISTERING ON-LINE & PAYING THE REGISTRATION FEE

All players need to register on-line and pay by April 27th.  If you are not registered and paid you cannot participate in tryouts.

Are you interested in being a travel team coach (head or asst)?  We ask that all coaches fill out a coaching application and mail it to the club - do not send through e-mail.  We also ask that you fill out an EPYSA RG6 and also mail that to the club.  We will also need you to register on-line to coach with RTSC.  Other items needed include:

Signed acceptance of the RTSC Coaches Code of Conduct – agreed to when registering on-line with RTSC

A current KidSafe Plus certification – completed once assigned to a team

A 1” x 1” photograph – you will need to upload this to EPYSA once teams are assigned

You will need to register on our on-line registration system as well as with EPYSA (we will let you know when the EPYSA part needs to be completed – please register with RTSC now)  

A Player’s age for the Fall 2012 Soccer Season is their age on July 31st, 2012. Players born after July 31, 2004 are not eligible to play travel soccer unless they are entering third grade this fall. The various Age Groups are described as under a certain age, and technically any Player who is under that age can tryout and play for a team in that Age Group. However, RTSC strongly encourages players to play in their appropriate Age Group. Any new player who wishes to be considered for an older age group should note that when they register and attend both age group tryouts.

Tryouts for our 2011 - 2012 season are as follows. There are two tryout sessions for each age group - every player must attend both sessions. If your child cannot attend both sessions for his/her age group you need to notify the appropriate travel director to make other arrangements. Players need to wear shin guards and bring a soccer ball and water bottle to tryouts. Players are requested not to wear travel team uniforms to tryouts. We also ask that any player team bags be left at home on tryout days. 

We will keep Saturday, May 12th as a possible make-up date for rainouts.

Players are expected to attend both tryouts. Participation at only one tryout may hinder the ability to accurately assess skill level. Any player unable to attend tryouts due to extenuating circumstances must still register, pay and contact Pat Ackroyd (girls) at patackroyd@gmail.com or Ben Chambers (boys) at chambersrtsc@gmail.com prior to the tryout dates to make alternative arrangements.

RTSC will make every effort to field as many teams as we have competitive players and coaches, however we may not be able to place everyone on a team. Players should be notified of their status prior to May 31st.

In addition to the registration fee additional costs to play travel soccer include uniform costs and fees to cover activities such as tournaments and training sessions during the year. The total cost will vary from team to team depending on the level of activity the Coach and the Team (including Parents) establish for the Team. (It is the policy of RTSC that no player is denied the opportunity to participate in the sport of soccer for financial reasons. Please contact the club when registering if you have a financial hardship.)

All U9 players will be asked to pay a training fee of $25 to provide a skilled trainer to work with their coaches and players during the year. This fee will be collected by the coach after teams have been formed.

Registration fees will be refunded immediately to players who are not placed on travel teams. Players who drop out prior to August 1, 2012 are eligible for a refund of their registration fee less a $25 administrative charge.

Tryouts for our 2012 - 2013 Travel Season are held in the spring of 2012 - see schedule on this site.  Players are notified of team status by the end of May.  Depending on the team - practices start at the end of June/beginning of July.  Most teams practice twice a week in the evening during the summer and cut back to once a week when school starts.  Some teams will participate in tournaments in August to warm-up for the season. 

The league games start the Saturday after Labor Day and run through the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  Boys' teams play on Saturday and Girls' teams play on Sundays - it is not uncommon to have games on either day, though; and some times both days on some weekends. 

All teams will participate in a tournament over Columbus Day Weekend.

Some teams continue and play indoors in the winter and will participate in tournaments in the spring - this is up to each team.
