Volunteers Still Needed
Raleigh Hills Little League is a non-profit parent-volunteer organization setup to provide baseball and softball programs for boys and girls in our neighborhood. All the league activities are planned and performed by parent-volunteers. This includes securing fields, buying uniforms, training umpires, scheduling over 600 games, coordinating with neighbor leagues, maintaining this website, paying the bills, and so on. And of course, managing and coaching 400 kids for a season.
All together this work requires more than 100 volunteers each season.
Each year every RHLL family needs to volunteer at least 6 hours each season to keep the little league operating successfully. That is a fair share of the work that needs to be done. Volunteers have been declining the past few years. Therefore, we have instituted a $75 opt-out fee for volunteering. This deposit must be made at the beginning of the season (a check to be placed in a safe deposit box) and will be destroyed once volunteer hours have been reported. This policy is similar to what some of our neighboring little leagues have been doing. Please keep in mind that we need your time more than your money to keep RHLL running smoothly.
If you have questions regarding any of the positions listed here, or any other volunteer activity, please write raleighhills@gmail.com and we will get back to you immediately. Thanks.
Volunteer Position Descriptions
The attached handout has brief job descriptions for the many volunteer positions. There are about 25 non-coaching positions requiring a variety of skills: word processing, spreadsheet work, handling uniforms, fieldwork, working with the fundraiser program, working with the sponsors program, coordinating the Alpenrose concessions work, and so on.
