Pilot Baseball School

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Pilot Baseball School’s camps on the University of Portland’s campus. We are excited to be planning our 2009-10 winter hitting and throwing/pitching camps and would like to get your organization involved.

As the head baseball coach at U.P., Portland’s only NCAA Division I baseball school, I have always looked forward to working with kids from the Portland/Metro area. Playing a small part in the success that youth baseball enjoys in here is something I anticipate each year. Our professional teaching staff, college players, excellent facilities, and close proximity to Vancouver provide a great opportunity for your kids to get a head start on the spring baseball season.

Metro Baseball School

Established in 1970 by Roy Love and Jack Dunn, Metro Baseball School is the State of Oregon's "Oldest Baseball School ".
Held each summer at
Alpenrose Dairy, it is designed to maximize each player's abilities, increase self-confidence, and develop the young player in all aspects of the game. Our program teaches the fundamentals of baseball and is a great place for young ballplayers to learn the proper tools of the game in an organized manner and an atmosphere of congeniality and friendship. Players will have fun while learning all the little things that will help them improve their game.

Along with pitching machines, batting tees, and modern safety equipment, the school offers instruction in pitching, hitting, bunting, infield and outfield play, throwing, and catching.

Metro Baseball School offers two sessions. Each session lasts one week and consists of five two and one half hour daily instruction periods. Dates for the 2009 schools are June 15th - 19th and June 22nd - 26th and the times are 9:00 am to 11:30 am each day.

Price is $85 per child. Please contact us for family rates.

If you have any questions or need more information we can be contacted by email or by phone
at 503-620-8848 or 503-244-1472.

Baseball Mastery

My name is Ben Petrick. I’m a former Major League baseball player.  I was drafted out of Hillsboro District’s Glencoe High School in 1995 and spent 10 years playing professional baseball. The majority of my career was with the Colorado Rockies. I concluded my professional career with the Detroit Tigers and the San Diego Padres. Overall, I played 5 major league seasons and 5 minor league seasons. I retired in 2004.

Since that time I have been giving private hitting and catching lessons.  In addition, a friend and I have started working on a video instructional website called Baseball Mastery. Our goal is to provide a players, coaches, and parents with an easy way to answer their baseball questions. We have a good foundation of baseball knowledge and are now focusing on specific information for parents and coaches to use when instructing their own children.

If you have any questions about me click on the “about us” link at the bottom of the Baseball Mastery homepage, or if you are interested in private lessons, or if you have any questions at all please contact me at ben.petrick@baseballmastery.com.
