The Richmond Hill Stars Minor Midget AA team wrapped up their season with a hard-earned 2-1, Game 6 victory over the very hard-working Newmarket Redmen to capture the York simcoe league championship. The victory was the 5th York Simcoe title for the 1996 age Richmond Hill team in the past 7 years. This brings to a conclusion the successful season for the club which saw the team finish the regular season in first place in the highly competitive loop. Other highlights for the season included a strong showing in the U16 division of the Chicago Bauer Invitational; being finalists in the Cobourg Regional Silver Stick; being an invite to the International Silver Stick and advancing to the 1/4 finals; plus reaching the 1/4 finals of the OMHA playdowns. The coaching staff want to thank the boys for a great year and working so hard to be so competitive throughout the entire year with the top teams in the OMHA and some of the top ranked teams in the U16 division in the U.S.
