  Welcome

ANNOUCEMENT:  IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE, THIS SITE WILL CHANGE ITS NAME AND BE LOCATED AT WWW.RECRUITMENTGUY.COM . THAT SITE HAS NOT BEGUN YET, STAYED TUNED FOR MORE INFORMATION

WELCOME TO RECRUITING TIPS (SOON TO BE RECRUITMENTGUY)

This site is dedicated to helping softball players get recruited.  In the years that I have been involved in softball I have seen a lot of misinformation given out and some actual disinformation at times.  I created this site to give good, unbiased, information with the only agenda being to help the players.  This site is completely free and will remain so.

I would like this website to be interactive.  I invite people to email me with tips and suggestions of their own that may help the players and families going through the recruitment process in the future.    I will remove any way to identify the forms to a specific team, player or college.

The information is to be used as people see fit.  Not everything on this site will apply to everyone as I do not suggest a cookie cutter approach to recruiting.  But I hope that everyone can take something away from this that helps them in the recruitment process.  Most of all I wish everyone the best of luck in finding a school that fits their respective needs.   Please check back in the coming weeks for additional information that will be posted.

When you are reading this site you will notice that I always refer to the girl as "your player".  This was done because I did not want to presume that the person helping the player is always a parent.  While most of the time it will be parent, it could be a friend, teacher, coach or other relative.  So I decided to use a more generic term that always fits.

If you have a specific question about recruiting, please feel free to email me at scf97@hotmail.com.  If you want a private answer please indicate that, otherwise I will assume that I have authority to post your question and any response.  Any emails posted will have the names and email addresses removed.  If you would like a live presentation about the recruiting process for your team or organization, please email me for details.

In order to make this site more easily understood, from this point forward any updates, other than corrections, will be done in red to stand out.

For those of you who want professional help with the recruitment process, please go to the links page to find companies what will do much of this work for you, or work in conjunction with your efforts.  There will also be links to people who can help improve your player's game.  Recently, I have added, at the request of some college coaches, information about their upcoming camps and clinics. There are other interesting tidbits, including the official NCAA 2008-2009 Guide to the College Bound Student Athlete, an Eligibility Worksheet, an Outline of the Freshmen Eligibility Requirements and the 2008-2009 recruiting Calendar.

If you find these pointers helpful, please pass them along to others and take the time to sign the guest book.  I would also request that everyone take the time to read the "Giving Back" page.

An "E-BOOK" version of this site is available for $10.00.  If you would like a copy  please email me.

Although this site will remain free, I am willing to take advertising for the links page.  If you are interesting in advertising a product, used or new equipment or a service that relates to softball players, please feel free to email me.

Starting in the spring, I am planning on sponsoring showcases.  I am looking for tournament directors and vendors  who are interested in this opportunity.  As of this moment, I have approximately 12 lined up, mostly on the eastern seaboard, from New England to Florida, including some big named showcases. I am looking for tournament directors who may be interested in a sponsor and vendors who are interested in direct marketing their products or services to softball players or college bound student athletes. For information about the showcases please go to the College Prep Tour page.

If this works, I will be expanding it across the country and into other sports, starting with soccer. If you are interested please email me at scf97@hotmail.com for more details.

To some extent this site has morphed in ways that I had not anticipated, but hopefully in a good way.  My goal is to make the recruiting process easier for EVERYONE, including the college coaches.  As time progresses, this site will become a central location for the free exchange of information between college coaches and recruitable players.  That will not change the basic message of the site-that players should find the right fit for their college careers, but should help to make that search easier and more efficient.  With that in mind, I have added the following new features:

IF YOU GO TO THE RECRUITING FROM A COLLEGE COACH'S PERSPECTIVE PAGE, YOU WILL FIND A TABLE THAT WILL BE USED TO LIST THE NEEDS OF COLLEGES FOR 2009, 2010 AND 2011.  BE SURE TO CHECK IT OUT.  THIS HAS BEEN RECENTLY UPDATED.

IF YOU GO TO THE MISCELLANOUS INFORMATION PAGE, YOU WILL FIND  TABLES PROVIDING INFORMATION ABOUT UNCOMMITTED SENIORS AND JUNIOR COLLEGE TRANSFERS.

STARTING IMMEDIATELY, I WILL BE POSTING COLLEGE COMMITMENTS.  PLEASE EMAIL ME THE PLAYER'S NAME, THE TRAVEL TEAM AND THE SCHOOL.  PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL NOT POST EARLY VERBALS. PLEASE GO TO THE CHOOSING A SCHOOL PAGE TO SEE THE LIST.

STARTING IN THE SPRING, I WILL BE POSTING "GUEST PLAYER" INFORMATION FOR SHOWCASES.  THERE WILL BE TWO TABLES ON THE "SHOWCASE".  ONE WILL BE FOR TEAMS LOOKING FOR GUEST PLAYERS, THE SECOND WILL BE PLAYERS LOOKING FOR TEAMS TO "GUEST" ON FOR SHOWCASES.

Good luck to everyone.
