With all of our best athletes competing at either the Inland Empire Championships this weekend or the Mt. SAC Relays, we expected some incredible efforts and WOW - we got them! Folks - we are experiencing some of the most incredible results in an eight day period than we've EVER seen.....stay tuned! We have a buttload of results to input and we'll provide you with our 2009 Distance Watch by Tuesday!
First and foremost, La Sierra's Reggie Wyatt just missed breaking the Riverside County record in the 400 meters. His 46.38 leaves him just short of Tyree Washington's 46.34 (also of La Sierra by the way!). Great job Reggie.....
My lord - what a weekend! First off, MAJOR PROPS to Roosevelt High! Their 4x400 team roared to a 3:16.06 in winning the Mt. SAC Relays while they are now #1 in all of California! Their girls also went 3:58+ in the 4x400! Read below for Friday's updates!
My lord! Eleanor Roosevelt High, only a 3rd year school, smashes its way up the history books with it's stunning 17:43.05 clocking in the 4 x 1600 at the Mt. SAC Relays! This is now the #2 all-time mark in Riverside County History! Only the incredible La Sierra quartet (Knight twins, S. Norton and J. Drinkard) back in 2007 has run faster! Both Lopez Twins split under 4:20 while Caleb Potts and Frankie Drevdahl pulled in some awesome splits! Also at the Mt. SAC Invite come in the form of the 1600 meters as ML King's Kelsi Tippets roared to a huge personal best in going 5:08.63!
And, the 2009 Inland Empire Championships??? Vista Murrieta's Nick Ross is making a claim against Mr. Wyatt for that Athlete of the Year award! He just missed clearing 7'3" in winning the high jump while FLYING to 23'8" and 49'4" personal bests in the long and triple jumps, respectively! We're talking about one of the finest single days in Riverside County history! Meanwhile, Rancho Verde's Alycia Herring continues to impress. A nice 19'4" efforts in the long jump only complimented by her 24.51 victory in the 200m over teammate Asiah Gooden at 24.59!
The most impressive stats we have coming forth in this week's dual meets are the La Sierra Girls' Throws department! Four girls over 34 feet in the shot put, led by Lima Tu'ufuli's 40'1", and five girls over 96 feet in the discus, led by Elyana Partida's 112'3". We also have Rancho Verde's Alycia Herring and her 56.93 monster effort in the 400 meters! Not too shabby for one of the best long jumpers in the nation! Meanwhile, teammate, Greg Hornsby rushed out to a 21.81 wind-aided 200m!
Meanwhile, the dual meets continue to roll as the Southwestern League action really heats up this week!
