My Site News: Riverside County Athletes Hold Their Own at Arcadia Invite

Riverside County Athletes Hold Their Own at Arcadia Invite

We witnessed some incredible efforts from our county's athletes at the 2009 version of the Arcadia Invitational.  Representing 44 states and three different nations, it is the largest and most competitive in the nation.  We're not going to sugarcoat things folks - many walked away disappointed but that is what comes with the double edged sword called....talent!  Competing against the best in the nation does come with a pricetag.  La Sierra's Reggie Wyatt blazed to a 36.01 in the 300 Hurdles, just missing his own personal best established as a sophomore.  Santiago's Rodney Storrs followed that up with a nice victory in the invitational 200 meters.  We also saw the coming out party of Vista del Lago's Emmanuel Ngula.  Looking 'human' he still came through incredibly breaking 4:18 in the full mile and coming back on little rest to break 1:56 in the 800!  On the girls' side, Norco's Ashley Perkins finally got in a wind legal mark in the triple jump with 39'5" effort and very impressive series of jumps!  Rancho Verde's Alycia Herring put out a 19'3" mark in the long jump as well.  We'll update our summary, but in the meantime we have two goals - update the marks and finalize our own personal entries for the Inland Empire Championships that is due this morning!
