My Site News: Weekend #6 Highlights

Weekend #6 Highlights

Up at the Stanford Invitational, the 2007 State Champion Rancho Verde girls' squad rolled to the victory in 47.69.  Meanwhile, their boys raced to a 42.91 for 3rd place.  Jesse Ooten blazed to a 49.99 in the 400 meters while female counterpart, Alycia Herring went 57.65!  Herring also won the long jump with an effort of 18'10.25.  Her partner in crime, Brittany Bozeman, has now taken her county lead in the Triple Jump out to 37'5" while also flying over the 18 foot threshold in the long jump!  Her TJ effort is tied for the #16 all-time mark in county history!

Vista Murrieta Noe Ramirez exploded for the victory in the 1600 meters with an amazing 4:15.44!  This is a HUGE coming out party for the junior as this puts him amongst the best in the state and one of the best marks in Riverside County history!  WOW - almost a nine second pr for Noe!  Meanwhile, La Sierra senior Steven Norton finished right behind him in a 4:17 and change!  But, the army of Vista Murrieta was in tow with an incredible 8 second pr  turned in by Chase Welch (4:19) with David McDonald going under 4:24!  Man, the Riverside County 4 x Mile record would be in serious jeapordy but the VM crew might be going for the DMR record instead!   Not to be overlooked, VM also put juniors Tyler Owen and Carlos Ortega in at 1:57.51 and 1:57.52!

More results from the Trabuco Hills Invitational?   Santiago senior Steven Crum kicked down a 9:29.53 to finish 2nd in the 3200 meters, just ahead of Murrieta's David McCutcheon in at 9:31.97.

In the sprints, freshman Gabby Estell of Riverside Poly blazed to a HUGE pr of 58.05 in the 400 meters!    Meanwhile, Vista Murrieta sophomore Dynese Adams blazed to a huge pr in the 200 meters with a 25.53 effort!  In a classic match-up, Santiago junior Rodney Storrs is out of the box with an incredible 10.79 / 21.53 effort!  His 21.53 is the #13 mark in Riverside County history!  He already holds the #8 all-time mark in the 100 meters (10.66).

In the field events, dismissing that last weekend's 49'3"as a fluke, Santiago senior Chris Benard went 49'0" in the triple jump and our over Vista Murrieta's Ryan Swafford.  Benard is now #4 on the all-time Riverside County list while these two on on the top of the state leader boards!  Not to be overlooked, VM junior Nick Ross put up another 6'8" effort for the victory against some great competition...

Traveling up to California's Central Valley, JW North came back with some incredible marks!  They lose some of their studs but keep churning out the results!  Their boys went 42.28 and 3:23.35 in both relays!

Needless to say, the boys from Vista Murrieta are putting themselves in contention for a possible CIF Title while the Santiago boys have definatly improved and are one of the top squads in the county here in 2008!

We've also updated our 2008 Distance Watch list!  Check it out...
