Wyatt and Herring Reign as Top Athletes of 2009

Our 2009 Riverside County Athletes of the Year are two former winners - Mr. Reggie Wyatt of La Sierra and Ms. Alycia Herring of Rancho Verde!  Herring staked her claim as our 2nd back-to-back winner while Wyatt is our first boy to earn this distinction twice albeit with a year in between.

We promise - we'll provide a greater description of why these two incredible athletes earned these awards as soon as possible.

Wyatt Leads La Sierra to California State Title! VM's Ross Wins High Jump Title!

Reggie
Reggie Wins the 300 Hurdles

The improbable took place up in Fresno folks!  La Sierra, off of Reggie Wyatt's two individual state titles in the 400 meters and 300 Hurdles, brought home the FIRST BOYS TEAM TITLE in Riverside County History.  Oddly enough - it was fellow Inland Valley League powerhouse, Rancho Verde, that was predicted to do so.  But a day of disappointment opened the door for four other schools to walk away with the 'team' title!  Vista Murrieta's boys also gave it a ride but fell short as well.  Overall, unfortunately, athletes from Riverside County probably walked more disappointed than juvelated - but in time, will reflect on all of their tremendous
2009 seasons!

USC-bound, Mr. Wyatt roasted the track to a 46.13 victory in the 400 meters.  This is a NEW Riverside County Record, breaking La Sierra's Tyree Washington's 46.34 set back in 1995!  After staying up until 5 am the night before and with the anticlimatic emotion of that new national record in the 300 Hurdles, he had to hold on for the victory in the finals of the 300 Hurdles.   So, two new county records in less than 24 hours as well as giving Riverside County its first ever team title - not a bad weekend wouldn't you say!?!?

Vista Murrieta's Nick Ross was the only athlete to qualify for the finals in three individual events.  The University of Arizona bound Ross has been fighting a quad injury this past month, but still walked away with the state title in the high jump with a 7'1" effort!    He also placed 6th place in the triple jump while teammate DJ Lloyd took 5th in the long jump.  Finally, Noe Ramirez, with the state title hopes still within grasp, took a risk and ran right up in the top five (ran 9-10 seconds faster for the first 1600 than he ever has) for several laps but was unable to hold on in the 3200 meters.   Way to go for it Noe!

Perris' Ericka Nowell closed out her high school career in fine style with a solid 41.80 3rd place finish in the 300 Hurdles.  Considering that she went back home to celebrate her graduation with her fellow classmates and than make the trip back home, our hat is off to her!

One of THE biggest surprises in the state was San Jacinto sophomore Immanuel Hutchinson and his 4th place finish in the 800 meters!  He posted another pr of 1:53.04!  This moves him up the 7th fastest in Riverside County history while breaking his own sophomore county record.  Perhaps running all of those 400-800 doubles paid off in the end - remember, he did not originally make the Masters Meet doing that same double at CIF Finals.

It was very frustrating day for the crew from Rancho Verde.  For the record, this is THE most competitive coed crew ever assembled for the state meet from Riverside County.  But, it was not meant to be.  Going in as the favorites, the just ran out of gas.  Ruben Danielson was leading in the 800, but ran out of steam to finish 8th.  He will return as one of the top 800m athletes in the nation in 2010.  Greg Hornsby and Paul Robertson also fell short of earning points in the 200 and 400, respectively, while Curtis Wilson's tremendous season ended with a 5th place finish in the triple jump.  On the girls' side, hoping to compete for the team title as well, their 4x100 relay settled for a 4th place finish.  Frustrating and dismayed, their girls raced to 6th place in the 4x400 relay.  Their lone senior, Brittany Bozeman, jumped out to 4th place in the long jump while Alycia Herring followed with a 5th place finish.  It looked as if Asiah Gooden had 5th place in the 100 meters, but the camera determined her as 7th place.  Finally, Gabby Estell ended with a 7th place finish in the 400 meters.  They do return most of the major scorers while we suspect, with a different sense of motivation in 2010!

Great Oak's Shaylynn Fisher got herself onto the awards podium with an impressive 6th place finish.  Her first throw 135'3" actually had her in 4th place after the first round.  It held on for the medal and ends one of the best throwing careers in county history!  Meanwhile, Norco's Ashley Perkins closed out her incredible career at Norco with an 8th place finish in the triple jump.   She was 4th after her first jump but watched others out bound her mark in frustration.   Vista Murrieta's girls' 4x100 closed out of the finest seasons in county history with a 7th place finish.  Thier 46.52 from the Masters Meet leaves with the 8th fastest time in county history.

We'll update more soon enough...

Wyatt Steals the Show @ 2009 California State Meet

REGGIE WYATT SETS THE NEW NATIONAL RECORD IN THE 300 HURDLES!!!  With the timing being just perfect and using the 400 meters (47.28!!) as a nice warm-up, the La Sierra senior roared into the final stretch and was flawless!  The quest is finally over folks!  Since breaking 36 seconds and setting the national sophomore class record, it was only a matter of time.  Congratulations Reggie!  Now, he may shoot for that 46.34 county record (La Sierra's Tyree Washington-1995) as moving into his last phase of speed work these past three weeks may pay dividends!  He may not get much sleep tonight as he's still signing autographs as you read...    http://www.dyestatcal.com/?pg=videos&vid=E5BDEDF0A0953C2D   http://www.flotrack.org/videos/speaker/3934-reggie-wyatt/184435-reggie-wyatt-300h-national-record

**Elsinore senior Kenny Jackson continues to amaze us as he blazed to the #3 fastest mark in Riverside County history in the 100 meters.  His 10.52 victory came from the 8th lane nonetheless, as he moves on as the #2 seed.   Jackson came back to race to a 21.41 clocking in the 200 meters to also advance.  This is the 10th fastest time in county history! http://www.dyestatcal.com/?pg=videos&vid=60AC8344B0911E28

**In the 4x100 relay, Rancho Verde's girls took over on the 3rd leg with a solid victory.  The precise handoffs from Alycia Herring to Asiah Gooden continue to amaze.  Meanwhile Gooden also easily advanced in the 100 meters with an awesome 11.73 effort, which ties the #4 time in county history.  Herring came back to advance in the 200 meters.  Meanwhile, Herring and Brittany Bozeman move on in the long jump!  Gabby Estell advanced in the 400 meters, despite running a second off her mark from last week's meet.  Of course, they advanced in the 4x400 relay as well.  Rancho Verde's girls are still competing for the state title but predicted to finish 2nd overall as a team.  They will need some things to fall their way in their trek to overtake Long Beach Poly.

Unfortunately, Rancho Verde's boys, going in seeded #5, did not move on.   This hampers their effort in their state team title quest!   But, junior Ruben Danielson did come back and easily advanced with a 1:51.97 effort in almost setting a new Riverside County record (1:51.83).   http://www.dyestatcal.com/?pg=videos&vid=8B5BBD0695C2DF81   Paul Robertson also advanced in the 400 (48.55), despite doing in as the 13th seed in what could keep the Mustangs in it.  Curtis Wilson also easily advanced in the triple jump and Greg Hornsby barely moved on in the 200 meters.   By advancing, Robertson and Hornsby give RV a good chance as even them earning only 1 point could be the difference in  holding off Cathedral High!  Cathedral is only scoring in three events while RV is entered in five after winning their heat in the 4x400 relay.  Hmmm, but there could be another school out there perhaps?

**Norco's Ashley Perkins moved on in the triple jump.   Her 39'7.25 mark moves her on as the #5 seed and improves her #3 all-time county mark.   In the long jump, she just missed qualifying as her 18'3.5" leap left her at 10th place.

**Perris' Ericka Nowell, after finishing 2nd at the 2008 state meet, won her heat in the 300 Hurdles with a stellar 42.20 effort!   Her time sends her into lane #5 for tomorrow's final!    Also taking the trip individually (and making the trip well worth it) was Great Oak's Shaylynn Fisher.  Her 133'8" 2nd throw was enough to easily advance as the #6 seed.

**The Cinderella story of San Jacinto sophomore Emmanuel Hutchinson continues as he wins his heat in 1:53.45 - another personal best and 12th best mark in county history!   Getting into last week's Masters Meet when another athlete dropped, he is now competing for the state title!   We believe this is also a new sophomore county record.  JW North's Donte Holland was unable to advance despite going 1:54.70.   We'll have four boys returning in 2010 that have already gone under 1:55!

**Vista Murrieta remains in tact as Nick Ross, despite in injured quad, moves on in all three of his events - the long, triple and high jump.  DJ Lloyd also advanced in the long jump.   Noe Ramirez will toe the line as well tomorrow evening in the 3200 meters.   With some huge performances, these three boys could sneak their way up in there with Rancho Verde and Cathedral for that state title crown!   We cannot overlook the Lady Broncos 4x100 team as they continue to improve with every week.  They also advanced with a new personal best of 46.92, which is the 11th fastest time in county history and the fastest mark ever recorded by a non-Rancho Verde / JW North squad!

**Roosevelt's Bryan Adams finished 4th in the same heat as Wyatt but did not advance.  Adams ran an awesome anchor leg in getting his boys to 2nd place in their heat of the 4x100 relay, but they did not advance (10th seed) with a 42.00 effort!  But, all is good in that they did win their heat in the 4x400 and will go after the state title.  Not too shabby for a 3rd year school where five of their top six 400m athletes are underclassmen!

Riverside County Dominates at CIF Finals

Nick Ross Flying
Vista Murrieta's Nick Ross Soars to 28 points!

Highlighted by TWO runner-up plaques from the Rancho Verde program, Riverside County's athletes truly came to play at this year's CIF Track & Field Finals!  Rancho Verde, going in as heavy underdogs to Long Beach Poly, stayed true to form, but earned more points than expected.  But, on the boys' side, coming in ranked #3, they fell just one point short of the CIF Title (58-59 to Dana Hills).  Vista Murrieta's boys, after finishing 2nd in 2008, took 3rd place here with 51 points.   In time, we'll be able to analyze just how much the Inland Valley League contributed to the points earned at the CIF Finals!  But, it's safe to claim that Rancho Verde IS the best combined program in the Southern Section.  With a little more research - perhaps, the nation?  But, do not count out Vista Murrieta in their quest for a possible state title.  And, of course - there's another 'team' on that same quest....

On the boys' side, Riverside County earned NINE Division I CIF Titles out of the 16 events contested!  In mentioning a possible team state title, La Sierra's Reggie Wyatt did something no boy has ever done in the Southern Section - he earned CIF Titles in the 400 meters, 300 Hurdles and came back for the 200 meter victory!  He just missed the school record (and Riverside County record) in his 46.45 victory in the 400 meters.  He also just missed his own school and county record in the 35.74 hurdles effort!  With two weeks to go, he still looks like he has another gear in him (scary....huh?)  He also threw down an incredible 46.2 anchor leg on their 4x400 Relay.  Meanwhile, Vista Murrieta's Nick Ross jumped his way to two CIF Titles as he soared in the high and long jumps.   He was winning the triple jump until Rancho Verde's Kurtis Wilson bounded to a HUGE personal best of 50-6.75 (wind-aided).  This is a new Riverside County record for wind-aided triple jump efforts!  Rancho Verde's boys also won the title in the 4x400 Relay while their 3rd leg, Ruben Danielson, ran away from any competition after coming off from his CIF Title in the 800 meters!   Rancho Verde's boys also roared to a 2nd place finish in the 4x100 relay in blazing to a 41.41, which is not the 3rd fastest mark in county history.   One of the nicer surprises of the afternoon was Vista Murrieta's Noe Ramirez exploding in the last two laps for the victory in the 3200 meters!  After a frustrating 9th place effort in the 1600, the University of Arizona-bound Ramirez put away all of the ups and downs he's experienced since his sophomore year!  His 9:08.08 is the 9th best performance in county history!  VM also dominated that long jump with Ross' 1st place to go along with DJ Lloyd 2nd place finish.   RV's Greg Hornsby also advances onto the Masters Meet after taking runner-up to Wyatt in that 200 meters.  Murrieta Valley's Jeff Tavashati came up huge with a three foot-plus personal best effort of 55'4.5" in the shot put.  He advances onto to next week.   Before we move on, let's comment on how LS's Wyatt and VM's Ross combined to earn 58.75 points and five CIF Titles!

On the girls' side, Rancho Verde's girls were seeded to score around 60-65 points but completed the meet with 81.  After having to re-run the 400 Relay due to an official's lack of judgement, they ran to another CIF Title (45.74 - 4th best in county history), which was faster than what they ran in the original one.  It may have helped the girls as Brittany Bozeman and Alycia Herring, in the midst of the long jump competition while the 400 Relay faisco ensued, flew to 1st and 2nd place finishes!  Bozeman's has really come on in the long jump this past month  Gabby Estell ran an awesome last 150 meters for a 2nd place finish in the 400, in breaking 55.20 in back-to-back weeks.  Estell also ook the baton in the 4x400 Relay in 5th place and powered her squad to 2nd place on her anchor leg!   Amber Clark is one of the most improved girls in the county as she had not gone under 15.00 until last week, but raced to a 14.47 in her 4th place effort.  Herring took 2nd place in the 200 meters in racing to the 4th fastest time (23.94) in county history.  After anchoring her squad to that 4x100 victory, Asiah Gooden took 2nd place in the 100 with a new school record of 11.58!  This equal the 2nd fastest wind-aided mark in county history while she also came back for an impressive 4th place in the 200 meters.

Great Oak's Shaylnn Fisher stepped it up big time with her 135'6" CIF Title effort in the discus!  Perris' Ericka Nowell also moves onto the Masters Meet with her 2nd place finish in the 300 Hurdles.  Nowell came off of the curve in first place but a slight studder on the 6th hurdle allowed an opening as LB Wilson's Nyjah Couse outleaned her 42.44 to 42.55.  This was a seaonal best for Nowell.  Canyon Springs' Sophia Ederaine is saving her best for last as she continues to improve with a 5'7" 3rd place effort in the high jump.  She easily moves onto next week!  She is now the 6th best in county history and the highest a girl has gone in seven seasons.

At Division II, as predicted, Elsinore sprinted to a runner-up CIF plaque!  The Los Angeles transfer, Kenny Jackson, was the catalyst for Elsinore's 2009 emergence as he placed a close 2nd place in the 100 meters and ran away with the championship in the 200 meters.  Jackson roared to an incredible 10.49 in that 100, posting the 2nd fastest wind-aided mark in county history!  Jackson also took 3rd place in the long jump, in earning 24 points!  Teammate David Williams closed well the last 120 meters, but settled for 2nd place in the 400 meters.   Meanwhile, Vista del Lago's Jaeon Davis advances onto next Friday after a great 2nd place finish in the 300 Hurdles (38.72).

A very deceiving statistic is how the Norco girls team finished tied for 3rd place for Division II when in reality, Ashley Perkins earned all 28 points!  She won the triple jump title for the 2nd straight year while having the long jump title snatched from her on the last jump.  She advanced to Masters Meet in both jumps.  She placed 4th in the 100 meters with an 11.88 while an 11.86 advanced onto the Masters Meet.  In also moving onto two events for the Masters Meet is JW North's Marjani Maldonado. Maldonado brought home two 2nd places in both hurdles, finishing one of the best in the nation in Claremont's Cori Carter.  This is the 4th year in a row Maldonado has advanced beyond CIF Finals!   This was definately the year for the Girls' 300 Hurdles as an incredible eight girls broke 45.00!

One of the more incredible improvements we've seen in some time, Beaumont's Victor Delgado is like a monster breaking out of his cage.  The young man that had not broken 4:25 until last week's 4:21 effort, emerged with a 4:15.55 (14th fastest in county history)clocking to qualify for the Masters Meet in the 1600 meters!  Now, that's peaking an athlete!   Indio's Paul Turner will also advance to next Friday with his 47'2" effort despite jumping into a headwind.

In Division IV, Jake Jeanson of Woodcrest Christian ran true to form!  With a very conservative racing schedule, he raced to a 4:17.94 and 9:26.04 for CIF Titles in both the 1600 and 3200!  He is an alternate for the 1600, but we do expect someone to drop the event.  Teammate Henry Vildosola took 2nd place in the triple jump in propelling WC to a 4th place team finish.

All in all, it was an incredible day for our athletes from Riverside County!  The wind-aided efforts obviously favored many of our athletes efforts, but many will be recorded by county all-time bests.   We do apologize if we provided you with more than what you'll read in the local newspapers....  ( - :   Scroll below to find what athletes from Riverside County advanced onto the Southern Section Masters Meet!

This week, (perhaps as early as Monday) look for our Best of the 21st Century!   We will list this decade's (century's) Top 10 and with those marks, list our top 10 squads!  Those of you true fanatics of this website will truly appreciate it!

Riverside Community College Boys Win Back-to-Back State Titles!!!!

RCC 2009 State Champs
RCC - 2009 State Champs
Temperatures were in the mid 90s at the 2009 California Community College State Championships hosted at San Mateo Community College.RCC men’s track team made history by being the first men’s track and field team in school history to win back to back state titles.  Unlike last year’s team, the task was not easy.  This year’s talent across the board was the best it has been in a decade, and Riverside’s depth was the key to victory.  “Every event was loaded with talent, and our guys came through with steady performances throughout the meet to capture the title.  We had eleven athletes earn All-American status and fifteen of the nineteen Tigers who qualified for the state meet scored points.”-Coach McCarron The long jumpers gave the Tigers the start they needed with three finishing in the top five!  Charles Smith (Hesperia) was second with a personal best leap of 24’5.75”.  Girorgio Bryant (Bossier) jumped 24’2” to place fourth and Kevin Rodgers (Colony) leaped 23’5” to place fifth.  “The long jumpers set the table for the rest of the team by scoring 17 points.  Our long jump coach, Greg MaGee has really done a great job getting our long jumpers ready for this day.”-Coach McCarron    Despite having a knee injury, Sean Robinson (San Gorgonio), came though big for the team with a fourth place finish in the Decathlon scoring 6053 points, a personal best for him.  In the 100 meters Daniel Auberry (Alta Loma) finished 3rd with a time of 10.43 (his best this season was 10.30), and in the 200 he ran a personal best to place 2nd clocking 20.86.  “Daniel’s 200m race rallied the team, and gave us the final points need to put us over the top.” Coach McCarron   Tommy Curry (North) was seventh in the 100 meters clocking 10.73 (his best this season was 10.41).  In the 400 meters Ernest Rickett (San Gorgonio) placed 7th running 48.17.  Defending 800 meter champion, Stephan May (Great Oak), placed 3rd with a time of 1:54.  Devin Adebayo(Redland East Valley), in his first year running the 800 meters, placed 8th.    In the 400IH Sam Jeter (King) hit the second hurdle and fell hard and was disqualified for going out of his lane.  Cameron Stepney (San Gorgoio) was fifth in the 400IH with his second best time of the year 53.38.  “Sam had run 51.1 (number one on RCC’s all-time list) last week and was favored to win the state title in the intermediates, so when he fell it really surprised the team.  Fortunately, he came back with a vengeance in the 4x400 and split 46.8 to help the team take third and run the best time of the year 3:10.17.” In the 4x100 (Don Danns-Helix, Tommy Curry, Giorgio Bryant and Daniel Auberry) equaled their best time of the season (40.30) to take second.  The 4x400 squad (Ernest Rickett 48.8, Tommy Curry 47.5, Sam Jeter-46.8, and Mark Pilchur-Eisenhower-46.8) placed third in the 4x400 meters with a season best of 3:10.17 (which is 4th on RCC’s all-time list).  In the 3000 meter steeple chase, Daniel Cooper (Chino Hills) placed 6th with a time of 10:00.58.   “It is a great accomplishment for these young men to step up and win back to back state titles.  I am also very proud of my coaching staff for all the hard work that they have put in this year preparing this team for another title.  The future is bright for Tiger track and field with 9 of the 19 state qualifiers coming back next year, and a strong recruiting class on its way.”-Coach McCarron

15th Annual Flying Tiger Invite

Hutchinson

We're still awaiting official and full results.  Vista del Lago's 4x100 team ran away with a 43.14 victory.  Meanwhile, Ericka Nowell of Perris won the 100 Hurdles in 14.92 with a close 2nd in the 300 Hurdles at a season best 43.54!  Beaumont's Ashlee Cervantes won all three distance races on the girls' side while Hemet's Wade Jones won, both, the shot put (48'1") and discus (165'2.5").   La Quinta's Morgan Pope won the 100 and 200 meters as well.   In a great finish, San Jacinto sophomore Immanual Hutchinson edged out Roosevelt's Caleb Potts and Vista del Lago's Emmanual Ngula in a nice 1:58.20 clocking.   Elsinore's boys continue a fine season by edging out the very young San Jacinto boys group (not one senior scored points for them).  Meanwhile, Elsinore's girls finished a distant 2nd to state powerhouse Long Beach Wilson but was the top local team on the girls' side.   Overall, some nice results as the regular season winds down and athletes get ready to unleash at their respective league finals.

Week #8 Heats Up...Literally!

What a week - 100 degrees on Monday and 70 degrees on Thursday?

Rancho Verde cranks it up a notch wth their girls and boys winning at Penn Relays!  (read below with picture - updated 4/24)

There was some incredible competition taking place this week.   In the Big VIII League, ML King's girls wrapped up another league title with a victory over Norco.  Meanwhile, Roosevelt's boys are responsible for it's school first ever league championship banner with their tough 73-63 victory over Corona.  A great meet where both teams were going crazy during the 3200 and gathered around to watch the high jump, it was all a dual meet should be.  Congrats to one heck of a week from Roosevelt.  Their boys 4x400 is now #1 in the state while their 4x1600 boys ran the #10 time in the USA this last weekend.  We have some very impressive dual meets up upload into our database from the Big VIII league.....   this will be an exciting league finals to watch!

The Sunbelt League is as competitive as we can remember here in 2009.  In a classic dual, Elsinore won the boys' league title over Paloma Valley 66-61!  It came down to the 4x400 where Elsinore 3:29 was the difference.  Elsinore's sprinters and throwers were able hold off the strength of PV's distance crew and hurdlers!  On the girls' side, Elsinore also won with a 72-55 verdict.  Definately the most improved league in the county (of those that preexisted) Elsinore has to be the most improved program in Riverside County!  Congrats to a great meet folks!

In the Southwestern League, the Vista Murrieta Machine ran away with league titles on both sides for the 2nd year in a row!  VM's boys ran away with an 80-56 victory, led by their 26-1 margin in the distances.   Great Oak was able to win both relays, but double victories by freshman Bernard Quinn (11.02 and 21.78) chipped away at those points.  Nick Ross' 7'1", 23'.075 and 50'0" victories led their jumpers to 24-3 margin.  Even some of the JV marks are making their way onto our county lists!  In the girls, we were surprised by the score, but Vista Murrieta got the best in a 92-44 affair.  Dynese Adams blazed the 400 in a 57.75 victory, only to come back with a 24.89 winning effort in the 200!  In our own recent personal (top secret) polls, we now have Vista Murrieta's boys ranked #1 in CIF (Division I), just ahead of Rancho Verde and Dana Hills.

Rancho Verde's squads traveled out to Pennsylvania to compete at the prestigious Penn Relays!  Their girls raced to the victory in 46.72 for the 400 Relay!   Their boys qualified into the finals with a 42.31 effort.  Rancho Verde's girls looked awesome in roaring to a 3:49.78 in the 1600 Relay - their 2nd best effort in school history!  We'll keep you all up to speed.    Not to be overshadowed, their boys posted a four second pr with an awesome 3:13.75 effort which is a new school record and #4 on the all-time Riverside County list!   Greg Hornsby's 47.9 split was huge along with Ramon Marshell (48.6), Ruben Danielson (48.1), and Greg Robertson (48.9)!  In the last two years, we have seen a flood of improved 4x400 marks from our county as the top two times in the state are now right here in RV and Roosevelt!  They also went on to post a season best 41.93 in winning the Large Schools 4x100!  This is the #10 time in county history.  With the machine rolling, Curtis Wilson also went out to 48'5" in the triple jump (we're assuming wind aided).       (Updated 4/25)

This weekend, San Jacinto will host the Flying Tiger Invitational.  This meet brings together some of the best talent in the local area as this will serve as the last invite for most athletes.  We hope to have results to you by Sunday morning.

Below, we've included our 2009 Distance Watch.  While the overall numbers are very impressive, the Boys 800 and Boys 1600 are the only events that looks like it stepped it up a notch compared to the 2007 and 2008 seasons.  The boys, as a whole, are putting together their BEST season in county history.  The girls have a lot of work to do in regards to besting the numbers from the previous two seasons!

League finals is only two weeks away folks!

This is a great opportunity for all of you to get an overview of the different offered events in Track & Field. Since we've linked to this our site, the athletes at Corona High have almost become addicted to this game! Can you score over 9000 points????
The movie is 108k and should take no more than 1 minute to download over a 56k modem. It is designed to be played on computers with at least a 400Mhz processor and users with slower machines may experience performance problems. If the game appears to be running slowly try closing down any other applications you may be running.
