14U INFERNO DOMINATES NSA FALL CLASSIC

2009 Fall Classic 14U Champions
2009 NSA FALL CLASSIC CHAMPIONS

Congratulations once again to the awesome ladies of the 14U Gold. They played flawless ball all weekend and came home undefeated once again to claim the 2009 NSA Fall Classic Champions. As the somewhat official end to our season, the parents and coaches couldn't have asked these young ladies to play any better.

We knew going in that it would more than likely come down to us and the Revolution. And that was exactly what happened. We played them on Saturday and their suprise jumped out quick, never looking back. Sunday's championship game would be another story.

It started as a defensive battle with Revolution going ahead 1-0 and holding that lead for 3 innings. Then Inferno would tie it up with a base hit between short and third. It would stay tied for a couple of more innings until our bats exploded. With two outs we would score 2 more runs and then the lights went out. I mean literally, the lights went out. After a 20 minute delay the game would resume and so would our hitting. We scored 2 more then a pitching change was made, but that didn't matter. Two more runs would score that inning, and we would hold them to no scores for two more at bats to win 7-1.

Now it's on to Hampton this coming weekend to try our luck at 16U. This was not on the schedule, but we decided to keep the train rolling.

I can't say this enough.......

Halloween Bash Runner-Up

We traveled to Eastern NC to compete in a 40+ team tournament and came up 1 game short. Competing against the best teams in eastern NC was why we went, and ended up facing one of the best young teams we've ever seen. The Hurricanes from Wayne County are one scrappy young team and have a very bright future ahead of them. Their hospiltality was unmatched by any other team we've ever faced.

GOOD JOB INFERNO & HURRICANES

14U GOLD CHAMPIONS OF NSA "INDIAN SUMMER BLAST"

Once again the Inferno Gold has traveled to Charlottesville in 2009 and gone undefeated bringing home a second Championship this year. This time winning the "Indian Summer Blast" in true Inferno style.

We got off to a slow start early Saturday morning and had to hold off the Redbirds in the last inning of a close game. The girls knew then it was time to turn up the HEAT. Winning our next two a little bit easier, we were seeded number one in our bracket. However we did not get a break for being #1. It would take 4 straight victorys on Sunday to take home the Championship title.

Once again we started slow Sunday morning and finally scored 3 in the 5th to defeat the Rage. From that point on, they team never let up. One thing for sure is that the young ladies of the Gold owned Charlottesville travel ball in 2009. Playing in the two largest tournaments held there this year and going undefeated in both.

ASA Hall of Fame Qualifier offers 5 great games

The Inferno Gold competed in their first real 14U tournament of the Fall. Facing the best of the best from the Northern Va. area. It started Saturday with two great pool play games, both going ITB with Inferno winning one of the two. Then Double Elimination started with a dominating performance in the first game and a defensive battle in the second. Winning the first game easily, it was on to the Shamrocks. The Shamrocks scored in the first inning with a over the fence home run. They would only score once more on an error and we would only put 4 runners on base against one, if not the best pitcher our team has ever faced. Final score Shamrocks 2, Inferno 0.

Now with Saturday behind us and our first elimination loss, it was on to an 8:00am start against the Riviera Beach Spirit. They led for most of the defensive game 2-0, then we finally scored 1 in the 6th and then another 1 in the 7th sending the game into our 3rd ITB game of the weekend. This one would go back and forth with each of us getting one run in the 8th and the 9th. Then finally in the 10th, we held them and went on to score the winning run. This would prove to be the most exciting game of the weekend. Then with the wind knocked out of us from the great battle against the Spirit, our bats went south and we fell flat. We were defeated by the Ruckus, who had just come off a dominating victory over the Ashburn Shooting stars.

We want to thank all of the competition and ASA for a great weekend of softball. Playing teams of this caliber will only make Inferno that much stronger.

GO INFERNO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

INFERNO 14U GOLD FINISHES RUNNER UP IN 16U GOLD DIVISION NSA FALL BRAWL

Congratulations to the young ladies of the 14U Gold on the 2nd place finish out of the field of 16 teams in the 16U NSA Fall Brawl. Outscoring your opponents 34-0 on Saturdays pool play set the tone for Sunday elimination. The teams were much tougher on Sunday, but Inferno never let up. First taking on the West End Wrath and knocking them out in a 4-1 victory. Then on to the semi-finals where we would face the Hanover Thunder. Another good game with the Thunder jumping out to a 3-0 lead early on, but they couldn't stop the Inferno bats. Inferno took the lead and never looked back winning 6-4 and now headed to the championship.

As we waited for the Speed to eliminate the Titans, we warmed up our pitchers and then took the field. Once again the opposition jumped on us and it was 7-0, but the young ladies of Inferno never gave up. The bats started to come alive and we scored 4, but it was too little too late. Final score Richmond Speed 8, RBI Inferno Gold 4. I want to thank Coach Earl of the Richmond Speed, and his team for giving us the game we needed headed into next weekends 14U ASA Hall of Fame Qualifier in Sterling.

Inferno 13U plays at the next level in 16U tournament

After finishing 3rd in the NSA 14U World Series out of 41 teams, going 9-2, and facing some of the toughest teams around Virginia and the neighboring states, the ladies decided it was time to try their hand at 16U. Once again they showed just how tough they are going 3-2-1 and finishing 3rd out of 11 teams in the NSA Summer Sizzler. I can't say congratulations enough to this fine young group of ladies.

Long Day at the ASA States

Saturday was a very tough day for players, coaches and fans of the Inferno Gold. We played our first ASA tournament and the competition was exactly what we wanted. The day began with the players ariving at the fields at 8:00am and ended at 11:30 that night. It was a long day of softball with not a lot of success on the field, but the team is better for the experience. Going 0-4 and being eliminated on a Saturday was something this team wasn't used to. But we all learned from this and it will only make the team stronger. With the NSA States just days away, we will turn this past weekends negative results into positive ones.

Tough Tournament with Great Results

Congratulations once again to the ladies of the RBI Inferno Gold 13U team. They played their toughest tournament to date and finished 3rd in the "A" bracket. The parents, coaches and fans witnessed some of the top 14U teams play excellent ball this past weekend. Saturdays pool play called for the girls to turn it up a notch. They started by tieing the Back River Surge 1-1, then fell to the Orion Hunter 6-3. The best game of the day came against the Diamond Delaware Swoop. The Swoop was undefeated for the day and it looked like they would keep it that way. The Inferno never gave up and battled back from a 4-0 deficit with time expired to win the game 5-4. The bats came alive and there was not stopping the base runners.

Sunday was all or nothing, and we started by playing poorly that morning. We held on to pull out the victory, but knew we couldn't play that way against the Legends Blue. The Legends came out strong and scored 3 runs right off the bat. Then we held them for the remainder of the game to only one more run. The final was 4-0 Legends on top. We were all proud of how this young team played in this "A" level NSA Tournament.

Now it's on to the ASA states in Lynchburg where the competition just gets tougher. We are all looking forward to it, win or lose, playing the best teams in the state makes this team what it is.

CHAMPIONS ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MOUNTAIN FEVER SHOWDOWN II

OK, Where do I begin.....

Fantastic, Outstanding, Breathtaking, Unbelieveable, Incredible,....

What a performance by this young team. Scoring 49 runs and only allowing 2 during the whole tournament, but the best part of the weekend was the big game at the end.

Words can't describe the Championship game between the Inferno Gold & the Riptides. Intense from the first inning is all I can say. Coaches, Players, Fans & Umpires didn't know what they were in for when waiting for game time. The awesome Riptides, and the spectacular Inferno put on a game for the ages. A pitching & defensive game is the only way to describe it. 10 innings of gut renching softball was the call of the day. 0-0 was the score throughout the entire game. Just getting base runners was a challenge as the defense of each team shutdown down the offense. Inferno was close to scoring a few times in regular innings, but the Riptides strong defense shut us down. Then it was on to the heart stopping ITB.....

Inferno, being home team due to high seed, had to hold the assigned ITB base runner at bay. We were able to do this for 3 innings as the Riptides knocked at the door of the winning run. Heartstopping is the only way to put it. Too many times to count the chances both teams had to score. Finally in the bottom of the 10th, we were blessed with the winning run. A base hit over SS scored our runner from 3rd.

The last thing I will say is that it was an honor to coach the Inferno to a 1-0 win over an excellent group of players, coaches, & fans, the RIPTIDES.

Way to go RIPTIDES & INFERNO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOLD Runner Up Two Weeks In A Row!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday was one to remember and also one to forget. The day started off with the Blazin Stars being a no show and not even calling the SOFTBALL NATION director to let him know. Then waiting until game time the director finally decided to do something. Maybe next time the director might notice the team not checking in or calling and plan something out before it's time to start the game.

The tone was now set for the morning. We started off just as the SN tournament did, BAD. The girls must have still been recovering from the long day at Bush Gardens and the sleepover the following night. That coupled with the weather and bad coaching decisions allowed the the Force to get an early jump on us and hold on till the end. Next it was the Xplosion, that started off a little better, but with the wind blowing 50mph, temperatures in the low 50's and a steady misty rain, it soon went south. The girls held on to win, but it became a nail biter at the end.

Now it was time for lunch. After a great cookout (GO Kiefer's) in the wind and rain, the girls rested in the cars. Then it was time to do it all over again. The food and rest must have been what the doctor ordered. They came out on fire and went on to win two games in a row handlely. Then it was a rematch of the Titans 14U and us. Just like last weekend, we started strong holding them to a 1-0 lead until 20 minutes remaining. The Titans fought back hard and ended up victorious once again.

All in all the tournament wasn't so bad. The players bonded like I've never seen them before in that Championship game. It was wonderfull to watch a group of 12 & 13 year olds play with heart till the end against a older team. I'm sure the Titans have as much respect for us as we do for them. I know we hope to see them again this season.

INFERNO GOLD FINISHES GOLD RUNNER UP IN NSA CHESTERFIELD CLASSIC

Much Congratulations go out to the 13U RBI Inferno Gold for going 5-2 in their 2009 season debut.

Finally the players that had worked so hard in the off season were able to touch the field in 2009. Coming off a strong first Fall season as a young 13U team they proved that they can play with anyone. Winning 4 out of their 5 victorys by the run rule, they showed that hard work pays off. Going 2-1 on Saturday and finishing 2nd in their bracket, we had laid out a tough schedule for Sunday. Winning early Sunday and taking a game break to eat lunch. We then went on a 3 game back to back stretch, winning the first two of the three in dominating fashion. Only giving up 1 run, and scoring 24 in the three games leading up to the championship game. Then it was time to face the 14U Titans in what would prove to be a excellent final game.

We started off strong and scored 4 unanswered runs and led the Titans for 5 straight innings. Then the long day began to catch up to our team, but they continued to fight hard till the end. The girls scored again, but were unable to fight off the Titans coming to the stretch. They never gave for one second all the way down to the last out.

All the coaches and I can say is that we were very pleased and proud with our first tournament of the season. The players, parents, and coaches are all going to continue to strive to acheive what everyone desires.

The Ultimate Goal of VICTORY!!!!!!!!!

Fall Season Comes To An End

The Inferno 13U team finished the Fall season in style. They ended their season finishing in the top 5 out of 22 teams in the NSA Powhatan Fall Classic. We went 2-1 in our pool play bracket on Saturday and ended in a 3-way tie. It came down to us and the Southern Maryland Shockers for the top 2 Gold positions. They finished 1st and us 2nd.

Sunday proved to be another great day of softball. Facing the #1 seeded Hanover X-treme Purple Sunday morning was the highlight of the weekend. The X-treme is a great team and we always enjoy the excellent competition. This time it was the Inferno that would come out on top. The game went 7 innings in 1 hour and 15 minutes, as usual in such a defensive battle. The score stayed blank for the first 5 innings and then we scored in the last two innings to make it 2-0 coming down to the end of the game.

We then went into another battle against the Powhatan Riptides 14U and held our own for most of the game. A few game changing plays that didn't go our way and the outcome was sealed.

Our weekend ended with another winning record, 3-2. We never expected this young 13U Fall season to be so successful. I under estimated the determination of these very tallented young ladies. We couldn't ask for a better group of players than we have on this team. Finishing the 2009 with a 15-9-0 season was more than we could ask for.

The Spring should be awesome for this team and all of the Inferno Family.

GO INFERNO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

13U Wins Silver Championship in the Halloween Cup

Once again the Inferno has won the Silver division championship. Going 0-2 in pool play on a rainy Saturday, they came out on Sunday and did everything they needed to do to win. All I can say is "What another great defensive, and this weekend an offensive Sunday". They faced the West End Wrath in what we knew would be a tough battle, and it proved just that. They scored first and then we went ahead and were able to hold them til the end. This weeked proved good for everyone in our pool play bracket. All four of the teams finished 1st or 2nd in both the Gold and the Silver.

Silver Champions in the Last Blast Classic

Congratulations to the 13U Inferno Gold team for going 4-1 and winning the Silver Championship. They went 1-1 in a rain shortened pool play on Saturday and ended up in the Silver with many other top notch teams. Sunday proved to be an awesome defensive day once again for the Inferno. Giving up only 6 runs in 3 games and winning the Silver Championship against one of the best teams in the tournament 4-2. We faced the 13U Northern Neck Rage in a very exciting tough game. Inferno gave up 2 runs in the first inning and put the hold on for the rest of the game.

Once again, Congratulations to the best young team playing 13U softball this season.

A big congratulations to the players of the 13U Inferno team. They played their first 14U tournament since moving from the 12U level and finished 5th out of 17 teams and were one of 8 teams to make it to the Gold division. The coaches were all proud of how they handled theirselves against teams with a years worth of 14U under their belt.

We look for great things to come out of this very young team.

SN Fastpitch Nationals-2008

UNBELIEVEABLE...................That's about the best way to sum up the Nationals for this awesome team of young ladies. We came to the Nationals ready to finish the season on top, and that's what we did. The girls played nearly flawless ball from Friday afternoon all the way to the Championship game on Sunday. Going 6-0 and never letting up on the competition. They ended 5 out of 6 games based on the run rule, scoring 60 runs and only allowing 3. The fans, umpires, and competition could not believe how our ladies were hitting the ball. Defense & Pitching was also out of this world. All I can say is "What a way to end your 12U season".

Look out 14U, here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
