Fall Baseball Program (Fall Ball)

Time to start thinking about fall baseball plans!

The basic information is as follows:

  • Cost $75.00 per player (make check payable to "Quito Little League and write "fall baseball on the memo)
  • Uniform included: Cap and team jersey
  • Location: Quito fields and San Jose American Fields
  • Registration Dates: July 9th and July 31st, 7pm to 8pm at Round Table Pizza on Pollard
  • First Game: Sunday, September 13th
  • Final Game: Sunday, November 8th
  • No trophies are awarded but we do have an end of the season put-luck BBQ for all players and their families!
  • Space is limited to 10 players per team.

The fall program is designed to prepare players to move up to the next level of play.  For example, if your child is 8, 9 or 10 years old and played AA this spring then she/he should play in the AAA fall program to become accustomed to the increased speed of play and 100% kid pitch. If your player is 10 or 11 years old and played AAA this spring then they should play in the majors fall program.

The fall program is also a good time for coaches, umpires and scorekeepers to prepare for the next level of play in a relaxed atmosphere.  There are no playoffs or tournament for fall baseball just 7 games designed to provide your child additional experience.  Teams will play one game per week on Sundays and may have one optional practice during the week.

We have two confirmed managers for the majors division and one for AAA, good start!  In order to function smoothly, each team will need the following volunteers: scorekeeper, field prep, umpire/s, team parent.

A new feature for our fall program is a special relationship with West Valley College. We will have several West Valley players on hand to work with the kids and coaches to enhance the learning experience and promote growth and fun.

Quito di Bocce - The Numbers are in!

Quito di Bocce 2009The primary purpose of Quito di Bocce is to raise money for the league so that we can keep our registration fees down.  Like the hitathon, we did not meet our goal of $15,000, but we did come very close!  All in all, we raised $13,463 for the league.  That compares with $14,499 last year.  Given the current economy, that's not bad at all!

We want to thank all of you who donated and attended and send a very special "thank you" to the team of volunteers led by Nicole Stone who worked hours upon hours for months to pull this event together!  You are all very special people and we are lucky to have you in our league!

Hit-a-thon Top Fund Raiser Highlight – Brockton Simpson!

Many of our players hit the streets to help the league and we rose over $6,320 in total for the league.  Although that didn’t meet our goal of $8,000, it’s pretty darn good in our current economy!  Cameron Brett, President of Quito Little League said “It’s this sort of community effort that makes Quito Little League what it is!  During these difficult economic times we really appreciate everyone’s participation in our fundraising events!”

Brockton SimpsonThe top fund raising prize goes to Brockton Simpson, who collected $736.75 in donations!  For nearly 2 weeks, Brockton came home from school every day, put on his uniform and went door to door for 1 ½ to 2 hours soliciting donations for the league!  His brother, Tanner would accompany him on occasion.

Brockton’s mom, Dawn Simpson, said “Neighbors would often question him about whether the money was really going to Little League and not candy and ice cream.”  She said Brock would merely tell them “I’m honest and I promise you that every penny will go to Quito Little League”.  Well, neighbors, the Quito Treasurer can attest to the fact that every penny did come to the league!

When asked how he felt about his son’s efforts, Brockton’s dad, Greg Simpson, said: “I’m just so proud of him.  He wanted to throw out that first pitch at the San Jose Giants game and give something back to the league he loves.  He worked hard every day!”

Brockton wins the grand prize of a Microsoft Xbox game console and gets to throw out the first pitch at this weekend’s San Jose Giants game.  Way to go Brockton!  Thank you for your contribution!  We are so happy to have you and your family in the league!
