Prince William RimRockers: About AAU

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is a non-profit organization divided up into area “associations”.  The Prince William RimRockers Basketball Association is a member of the Virginia AAU Association.    As a member of the AAU, RimRocker teams will participate against other AAU sanctioned teams in age-grouped tournaments to prepare for a District AAU tournament held by the Virginia AAU Association between March and May.  At the District tournament, AAU teams compete to qualify for the opportunity to participate in the National AAU tournaments which take place between June and July.

AAU competition provides a wonderful opportunity for young athletes to advance their athletic skills by playing against top caliber players from across the state and country.  AAU basketball is an institution that builds team concepts and provides a competitive environment in which to do so.  Most basketball players who wish to continue their playing career go through the AAU ranks.  Those players who have played AAU basketball tend to have a huge advantage on their middle and high school teams to those who do not.  It requires a commitment of your time, but the benefits of building life long friendships while developing your game are well worth it.
