Post 89 has accepted invitations to play in 2 Tournaments in 2010.
Post 89 will play in the 3rd Annual Blue and Gold Baseball Tournament in Utica, NY. Play will begin on June 30th, with semis and final on July 4th. We will be playing 5 games. Teams will report to Utica on Tuesday June 29th. Activities scheduled on the 29th include: a barbecue dinner and a throwing, HR and running contest at Murname Field. All teams will be staying at the Ramada in New Hartford, NY. Player rooms have been reserved. If parents want to reserve rooms for themselves, they should contact the Ramada:

Post 89 will also play in the 3rd Annual Hall of Fame Baseball Tournament held July 7-11 at Conlon Field in Binghamton. There will be 2 divisions of 4 teams. We will be playing 5 games. The top 2 teams from each division will qualify for the semis and finals on July 11th.
The latest Vestal Post89 schedule can be found under the schedule tab. The Broome County League regular season schedule has been included. Note: Date/time changes may occur due to weather and rescheduling. Additional games may also be added.
The Broome County Champion will be determined by July 21. The District 6 Champion will be determined by July 25. The NY State Tournament will be held July 27th through August 1 in Newburgh, NY. The Regional Tournament will be held August 4-9 in West Lawn, PA. The World Series will be held in Spokane, Washington August 13- 17, 2010.
Post 89 finished the 2009 season with a 15-9 overall record including a 8-2 record in the Broome County League. Post 89 won the Broome County championship by defeating Binghamton Post 80 in the semi-finals and Hillcrest Post 1194 in the Championship game. Post 89 last won the Broome County Championship in 2003.
Post 89 finished in 2nd place in the District 6 Tournament with a 3-2 record. Post 89 lost to Oneonta Post 259 in the "if" game.
Post 89 looks forward to competing in 2010 losing only 2 players (due to age restrictions) from the 2009 team .
Purpose and Scope of American Legion Baseball
1. To inculcate in our American youth a better understanding of the American way of life and to promote 100% Americanism.
2. To instill in our National youth a sincere desire to develop within themselves a feeling of citizenship, sportsmanship, loyalty and team spirit.
3. To aid in the improvement and development of the physical fitness of our country's youth.
4. To build for the Nation's future through our development of our youth.
These are the four permanent and unchanging goals of the American Legion Baseball Program.

This award is dedicated to the memory of Keith Kenderes. Keith played on Vestal Post 89 Baseball teams from 1991-95. This scholarship is a tribute to his life and hopefully will award players, who keep the spirit he carried onto the field alive. The award is open to graduating seniors on the Post 89 team. Those interested players should apply by July 15th, 2011.
The 12th annual Keith Kenderes Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at noon on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Traditions at the Glen. The funds raised from the tournament will benefit the Keith Kenderes Memorial Scholarship Fund. Teams or individual players are invited to participate. Format is captain and crew and the price is $80/person. Includes steak dinner, beer, soda, gift and prizes. Please make checks payable to: "Keith Kenderes Post 89 Scholarship Fund".
