Ben Foley Sportsmanship Award
Portland Little League annually awards a number of select players from its entire Little League baseball community with the Ben Foley Sportsmanship Award.
The Ben Foley Sportsmanship Award was created in 2002 by Wayne Visintainer (longtime Portland Little League coach/umpire/Board Memebr) to honor one or more players who have exhibited one or more of the ideals of sportmanship, including fairness, civility, honesty, unselfishness, respect and responsibility.
During his Little League baseball career, Ben Foley had a brain aneurysm. While Ben can no longer play baseball the award was created to honor Ben’s passion, enthusiasm and respect for the game.
Both the nominees and the recipients of the award are deemed leaders both on and off the field, had respect for their fellow opponents, managers and umpires, and showed a love for the game.
Past Winners of the Ben Foley Sportsmanship Award include Ryan Osak - '09 Michael LaMalfa - '09 Paige Wache - '09 Megan Wache - '09 John Rosano Nick Adamsons Devin MacDonald
