Welcome to the Portage Hurricanes web site. We are a travel softball organization located in Southwest Michigan. The mission of our organization is to provide quality teachings in fundamentals, knowledge of the game, sportsmanship, competitiveness and the enjoyment of playing fastpitch softball. GO CANES!!!!

2009 - 2010 Tryouts

The Hurricanes 2009 - 2010 tryouts will be held Sunday August 2nd and Sunday August 16th at Versluis / Dickinson Park. Tryout times are as follows:

 Sunday  August 2nd:

10U - 10am - 12pm (registration at 9:30am) on Versluis #1
14U - 12pm - 2pm (registration at 11:30am) on Versluis #1
12U - 2pm - 4pm (registration at 1:30pm) on Versluis #1

Sunday August 16th:

10U - 10am - 12pm (registration at 9:30am) on Versluis #1
14U - 11am - 1pm (registration at 10:30am) on Versluis #5
12U - 12pm - 2pm (registration at 11:30am) on Versluis #1
16U - 1pm - 3pm (registration at 12:30pm) on Versluis #5
18U - 2pm - 4pm (registration at 1:30pm) on Versluis #1

A Banner Weekend for the Canes

This past weekend the Hurricanes had a very successful showing in State Tournament play. The Canes 12U Green won the NSA State Championship over the Michigan Warriors 4 - 3 with a walk off double in the bottom of the 7th inning. The 14U Canes lost a heartbreaker to Line Drive Sports Gold 1 - 0  to finish as NSA State runner-ups. The 18U Gold Canes also won in dramatic fashion by hitting a 3 run home run in the top of the 7th and then hold onto to a 4 - 3 victory for their NSA State Championship. In Novi the 18U Canes Green lost a nailbiter to Team Michigan 2 - 1 to finish as ASA State runner-ups. The organization is extremely proud of you young ladies and keep up the hard work. GO CANES!!!!!!

Many Thanks

The Hurricane Organization would like to thank all of the family members that helped make the 2nd Annual Hurricane NSA WSQ a success. With all of the weather issues and relocation of the fields on Friday, we were able to persevere and get the tournament back on schedule. Your help on the fields throughout the tournament was greatly appreciated. Once again thank you to all the Hurricane families.
