The Poca Youth Basketball League (PYBL) is dedicated to the idea that kids can have fun and learn at the same time. For over a decade, we have helped teach kids and parents alike basketball skills, sportsmanship, and that working together is what makes a winning team - no matter what the final score may be!

You can now sign-up for the 2009 Winning Edge Basketball Camp @ PHS by downloading our brochure here.

You may contact the league by sending an e-mail to pocayouthbasketball@yahoo.com.

Summer Basketball Registration 2009

Our Summer League is full. We do have a waiting list for both divisions. So you could still get in just email me a name and I will add it to list. Games will start the first week in August and run thru first week in October. The games will be on Tues, Thur, Sat, and Sun. Everyone will not play all of these days. We will be having a couple of open gyms before the draft for the coaches to have an opportunity to evaluate talent. These dates will be listed soon. If there is anyone planning to try to play in this league and play football please know that it will be very hard to do. Last year one of the best players in the league decided to play football and ended up only being there for 3 or 4 games. Not really fair to his team mates. We would like to avoid this if at all possible. We are having 8 players to a team this year so that we won't fall short as often. There are 8 teams in both divisions so everyone will get 14 games. Look forward to seeing everyone again. If you have any questions please send and email to pocayouthbasketball@yahoo.com

Sportsmanship

Our League places the utmost importance on Sportsmanship. We have a no tolerance policy when it comes to unsportsmanlike conduct by any player, coach, or fan. We will not argue any calls made by the referees. We want to teach the kids basketball but most of all we want to teach them to show respect to others and to be Good Sports win or lose. Violators will be removed from the gym. This is for the good of our children and I think that we can all agree that this is why we are here. Let's have a great season and display great Sportsmanship along the way!

I would also like to add that 2nd grader Tanner Miller waited quite a while this season to finally score on the big hoop for his 3/4 grade team. Well Tanner it was worth the wait because you ended up scoring 23 pts for your UNC team! Great Job!

We had several second graders playing up in our 3/4 grade league this year and they all did a great job. Can't wait to watch you guys next year when you are really 3rd graders!
