Minors TOC Champions

TOC Champion Angels make headlines on TBO.com

The Indians and Angels met in the Championship game of District 4 Tournament of Champions. The Angels won the championship 10 to 3. The Angels went 4-1 in the tournament. Lost to the Indians earlier and came back thru the losers bracket and had to beat the Indians twice. Chelsea Baker hit her first home run of her career in the second game of the tournament and Chris Gosselin got his first home run against the Indians in a must win game. Plant City went to the T.O.C. with one goal in mind and that was to get to the Championship game with both teams vying for the title. Mission accomplished, we showed the Polk County teams how baseball is played at Mike Sansone Park. Congratulations to both teams. A job well done.

2008 Regular Season Highlights

1. On 2/19/08... Angel Morales of the Majors Mets pitched a "No Hitter" that included 15 Strike Outs for a 5-0 win over the visiting Antioch Eagles in the 2008 season opener!

2. Nick Jones, a 15 year old pitcher for the Boys - Junior League Marlins has recently accomplished a very rare feat...
In his last two starts Nick has pitched two no-hitters. First against the second place Mets on (4/15/08) winning 6 to 0. Last night (4/22/08) against the Astros, Nick pitched his second no-hitter in a row winning 10 to 0.
Congratulations Nick, you have accomplished something very special for a pitcher at any level!!!

3. On Friday 4/25/08 the
Marlins & Indians (Minor Division) had to play a one inning continuation of a previous game this week after the score was tied at 7-7. The Marlins were up first as the visiting team and did not score. Cory Cotnoir was the first batter up in the line up for the Indians. The count was 0 balls and 2 strikes! On the next pitch Cory hit his first ever walk off solo home run over the fence in center field to win the game 8-7! Cory is also the first player to hit a Homerun over the fence in the Minors so far this season! Congratulations!!!

4. "The Run Down" A pickle play between the Machine Pitch Nationals 3rd baseman, Chase Lawson and Catcher, Baily Webb trying to get the Diamondbacks speedster Cade Shissler out from 3rd to home!

5. Jarrett Joyner of the Minor Indians hit a solo homerun over the fence to help the Indians in their 7-1 victory over the Blue Jays on 4/28/08. 6. Spencer Nelson of the Minor Indians joins his other two teammates and is now the 3rd player this season to hit his first ever Little League Homerun in the Minors Division. He hit a 2 run homerun over the fence on Field #4 to help the Indians beat the Orioles (14-8) on Monday night 5/5/08.

7. The Machine Pitch White Sox finished off the 2008 regular season with an impressive undefeated 16-0 record. The final game came down to having to play the tough 2nd place Diamondbacks to keep the 15 game winning streak alive! The Sox 1st Baseman, Parker Messick drove in 5 of the 8 runs, by hitting (2) inside the park homeruns to help defeat the D-Backs 8-0! Click here to see the highlights!
