The Pittsford Boys Swimming and Diving team rebuffed a challenge from Buffalo Canisius, one of the strongest teams in Western New York, to win their final home meet, 106-77. The Panthers finished 9-1 in dual meets this season and won the two tournaments they participated in.
Pittsford took first place in seven of 12 events and fought for every point, as the Panthers depth and bench strength was again evident. Among the highlights were Panther victories in both the 200 free and 400 free relays. Matt Tanchick was a double winner in individual events, taking first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breast.

Morgan Marin was a close second in a very competitive 50 free with a time of 22.90, with McCrobie taking third.

Following diving, McManus took second in the 100 fly with a state cut time of 54.45, Horey was third and Brett Eslinger fourth. M. Marin won the 100 free (50.49) with McCrobie coming in third. Jacobi was second in the 500 free with 4:56.17 and PJ Ransford took fourth for the Panthers.

In one of the most exciting races of the day, M. Marin, Tanchick, McManus and Jacobi held off a late charge by Canisius to win the closing 400 free relay in a state cut time of 3:19.93. Pittsford’s Josh Kapilivsky, Chuang, Branch and Kevin Maier swam the third fastest time in the relay.
Pittsford’s junior varsity took first place in 10 of 12 events to easily win their meet against the Canisius JV to finish their season undefeated. The match took place January 23 at Mendon Pool.
Next up for Pittsford swimming and diving will be the MCCI’s, then on to Sectionals. The Panthers have already clinched another Monroe County Division 1 Championship and are the defending Section 5, Class A Champions.
