The Pittsford Boys Swimming and Diving team continued their march toward the defense of their Section 5 crown by defeating rival Penfield, 106-75, in an away match on January 14. Emmett Jacobi won the 100 free and the 200 IM as the Panthers improved to 6-1 on the season.
Alan Chuang, Lee Silverstein, Brandon McManus and Tyler McCrobie opened the meet with a touch-out victory in the 200 medley relay, posting a time of 1:44.07, just ahead of the Penfield relay. The Panthers followed with a 1,2,3 sweep in the 200 free. Matt Tanchick was the victor with a time of 1:49.45, with Alex Branch in second place and Josh Kapilivsky third.
Jacobi than posted a time of 2:01.88 to win the 200 IM, with McManus third and Silverstein fourth. Tyler McCrobie was second in the 50 free (22.92) with Kevin Maier taking third and Max Goodenow fourth.
Dylan Marin was third for Pittsford in the diving competition with 164.65 points. Ryan Stern was fourth for the Panthers, but he was awarded an “eight” by one of the judges for one of his dives, the highest score for a Pittsford diver this season.
After diving, M. Marin won the 100 fly in 55.92, with Tanchick right next to him at 56.07 in second place and Silverstein in fourth. Jacobi’s second win came in the 100 free (50.63), with Owen Drinkwater third. McManus took second in the 500 free (4:55.70) and Will Dawson was third.
Marin, Tanchick, McCrobie and Jacobi teamed up to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:32.10, with Maier, Dawson, Drinkwater and Goodenow taking third place with 1:35.00.
Chuang then won the 100 back (58.48) with Ryan Horey third and Trevor McCrobie fourth. Dawson followed with a first place in the 100 breast (1:05.32). Swimming exhibition, Tanchick, Maier, McManus and Jacobi had the fastest time in the 400 free relay (3:28.80).
The Panthers junior varsity easily downed Penfield’s JV to remain undefeated on the season.
The Patriots took time to honor their graduating seniors at their final home meet of the season. They also recognized Pittsford’s seniors – Kevin Maier, Brandon McManus, Abhay Seetharaman and Lee Silverstein.
