The Pittsford Boys Swimming and Diving team turned in the fastest times in every event as the Panthers cruised past Spencerport, 102-76. Lee Silverstein, Emmett Jacobi and Matt Tanchick were double winners for Pittsford as the finmen improved to 3-1 in dual meets this season.
Alan Chuang, Silverstein, Morgan Marin and Tyler McCrobie opened the meet with a winning time of 1:47.77 in the 200 medley relay. Tanchick followed with his first victory, a state cut time of 1:48.00 in the 200 free, with Brandon McManus second. Jacobi’s first win came in the 200 IM (2:05.19), with M. Marin taking the second spot. Tyler McCrobie posted the fastest time in the 50 free, 22.99, with Kevin Maier in second.
Pittsford swept the top three spots in the diving competition. Sam Randall was first with 166.85 points, followed by Brad Kwarta and Dylan Marin. After diving, Silverstein had his first individual win in the 100 fly, a time of 58.49, with PJ Ransford taking second place. Tanchick’s second victory came in the 100 free with a time of 50.51.
With the meet well in hand, Pittsford switched to a combination of swimming for points and swimming exhibition. McManus won the distance event, the 500 free, with a time of 4:59.56. In exhibition, Alex Branch had the second fastest time and Will Dawson was third fastest. Maier, Jacobi, Tanchick and McManus had the fastest time in the 200 free relay, 1:33.85, also in exhibition.
Silverstein won the 100 backstroke for his second victory of the day (1:02.40) and Jacobi’s second win came in the 100 breast, 1:08.76. The 400 free relay team of Ryan Horey, Max Goodenow, Maier and Tanchick posted the fastest time in exhibition, 3:34.54.
Pittsford’s junior varsity defeated the Spencerport JV, 99-47. Individual winners included: Scott Mayall (200 free), Brett Eslinger (200 IM and 100 breast), Chris Dawson (50 free), Tim Hart (100 fly), Trevor McCrobie (100 free and 100 back) and Stephen Thomas (500 free).
Pittsford will practice over the holiday break in preparation for the second half of the season and meets against many of their traditional Section 5 rivals, including Fairport and Penfield.
The Panthers next dual meet will be January 7 at Rush Henrietta.
