Pittsford swimmers clocked the fastest times in every event as the Panthers opened the defense of their Section 5 and Monroe County Champion titles with an easy 109-65 win at Brockport.
As in past seasons, some of the toughest competition came from within their own ranks. In the opening medley relay, Matt Tanchick, Lee Silverstein, Morgan Marin and Tyler McCrobie took first place with a time of 1:47.31. Alan Chuang, Will Dawson, Ryan Horey and Kevin Maier were right on their heels in second place with 1:47.60.
Pittsford had two double winners on the day. Emmett Jacobi took first in the 200 free (2:05.98) and the 100 free (52.49). Marin won the 50 free (23.50) and 100 fly (55.97).
It was a good start for one of Pittsford’s newest swimmers, Will Dawson, who won the 200 free in a time of 1:54.19. Also starting fast was Tanchick, who posted a state cut time of 4:52.10 in the 500 free.
Sam Randall took first place in the diving competition for Pittsford with 177.90 points.
The Panthers junior varsity also had the fastest times in each of their events, downing the Brockport JV by a score of 97-76.
The meet took place December 8 at Brockport High School. It was the 72nd straight victory for Pittsford in dual meets, a streak that goes back to 2003.
