Ten members of the Pittsford Boys Swimming and Diving team have been recognized with All State or All County honors for their achievements during the recent championship season.
All State and First Team All County honors went to seniors Dan Locke, Andrew Maier and John Lyman and freshman Morgan Marin. All four were part of the Panthers sprint relay team that took second place at the state meet on Long Island.
Also named First Team All County were Brandon McManus, Emmett Jacobi and Tyler McCrobie. Three more Panther finmen – Lee Silverstein, Alex Branch and Matt Tanchick – received Second Team All County honors.
Head Coach Mark Morris announced the selections at the team’s post-season banquet at Oak Hill Country Club on March 18. Pittsford celebrated another undefeated season that included their sixth straight Monroe County Division I title and seventh straight Section 5 Class A championship.
Pittsford has won 71 straight dual meets, one of the longest winning streaks in Section 5 history.
The swimmers and divers presented Coach Morris with a plaque recognizing his 36 years of service going back to 1973, when he was coach of the Pittsford Sutherland junior varsity team. The plaque noted that Morris has compiled an overall record of 535-30-1 with Pittsford, a 95% winning percentage.
The team also recognized two of their graduating seniors. Locke was voted “MVP” by his peers and Maier received sportsmanship honors. Locke and Maier had previously been recognized with Individual Sectional Sportsmanship Awards. The Panthers also received the Rochester-Monroe County Swimming and Diving Officials “Team Sportsmanship Award” at the Section 5 Championships at Webster.
