The Pittsford Boys Swimming and Diving team celebrated Senior Recognition Day by defeating Greece Arcadia/Olympia, 107-69, to cap off another undefeated season. It was the 71st straight victory for the Panthers, one of the longest winning streaks in Section 5 history.
Emmett Jacobi, Matt Tanchick, Morgan Marin and Tyler McCrobie opened the meet by taking first in the 200 medley relay (1:47.73). Alan Chuang, Lee Silverstein, Brandon McManus and Owen Drinkwater placed third for the Panthers.
Dan Locke was second in the 200 free (1:51.25), with teammate John Lyman taking third. The Panthers then swept the top spots in the 200 IM. Andrew Maier was first with a time of 2:07.89, Jacobi was second and McManus third. The 50 free was one of the most exciting races of the day, ending in a tie between Pittsford’s Marin and Greece’s Ryan Brannan, both hitting the wall with a time of 23.51. Kevin Maier was third for the Panthers in the event.
In the diving competition, Alex Byrd was first for the Panthers with 198.50 points, Jake Kaufler was second and Matt Tartaglia third. Following diving, Locke was second for the Panthers in the 100 fly (56.81), with McManus third. Lyman was second in the 100 free (49.91), with McCrobie third. Tanchick won the 500 free (5:11.35), with Stephen Thomas taking second for Pittsford.
McCrobie, Maier, Lyman and Locke teamed up to win the 200 free relay in 1:31.58. Chuang won the 100 back (1:00.39). Silverstein was the victor in the 100 breast with a personal best time of 1:07.38.
With the meet in hand, a number of Pittsford swimmers swam exhibition for times but not points. Jacobi turned in a 59.59 in the 100 back in exhibition, Charlie Harrington had the second fastest time in the 100 fly and Alex Branch was third fastest, and Jacobi, Horey, Drinkwater and Lyman finished the meet with the second fastest time in the 400 free relay (3:30.60).
Pittsford’s junior varsity defeated the Greece JV, 96-43.
Coach Mark Morris congratulated his four graduating senior co-captains – Locke, Maier, Lyman and Byrd – and thanked them for their contributions to another winning season.
Pittsford finished the regular season 10-0 in dual meets and 2-0 in tournaments to again take the Monroe County Division 1 Championship. Next up for the Panthers will be the defense of their Section 5 crown. The competition will take place at the Webster Aquatic Center on February 12 and 14.
