Two of the top boys swimming programs in New York state got together for a non-league meet Monday afternoon and host Pittsford took first place in seven of 12 events to down Finger Lakes East power Canandaigua 100-77.
As expected, there were some outstanding efforts in the marquee matchup.
For Canandaigua (9-2 overall), Will Brophy turned in a state cut time in the 200-yard freestyle, winning that event in one minute, 46.46 seconds. Brophy also qualified for the states in the 100 free, winning that event in 48.22.
For Pittsford, which is 8-0 and has won 69 straight dual meets, Dan Locke also turned in a state qualifying time in the 100 free with a time of 48.82.
Individual winners for Pittsford included Emmett Jacobi in the 200 IM (2:09.51), Locke in the 50 free (22.67), Ryan Horey in the 100 butterfly (57.69), Matt Tanchick in the 500 free (5:04.36) and Lee Silverstein in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.18).
For CA, Dan Hoffman won the diving event, Pat McCormick captured the 100 backstroke in 1:47.00, and Brophy, Kyle Germain, Andy Henry and James Cross teamed up to win the 400 free relay in 3:34.80.
