PITTSFORD DOWNS RIVAL FAIRPORT AND GATES CHILI TO REMAIN UNBEATEN

In the most anticipated match of the season, the Pittsford Boys Swimming and Diving team downed Section 5 rival Fairport, 113-70, to remain undefeated.

With family, friends and former Pittsford swimmers home for college break cheering them on and rocking the bleachers, the Panthers took first place in ten of 12 events.  They were also responsible for nine of the ten state cut times at the meet at Mendon Pool on January 8.

The senior swimmers led the way, with Nate French winning the 200 free (1:47.20) and the 500 free (4:43.05).  Kenny Pink took first place in the 200 IM (2:02.24) and the 100 breast (1:01.91).  Andrew Kuter was the victor in both the 50 free (22.36) and the100 free (49.42).  Sean McManus also won an individual event for the Panthers, the 100 fly (55.18).

Pittsford also took first in all three relays.  The 200 medley relay team of Andrew Maier, Sean McManus, Pink and Kuter opened the meet with a winning time of 1:39.88.  In the 200 free relay, Kuter, French, Tyler McCrobie and Sean McManus took first with a time of 1:30.84.  Locke, McCrobie, Pink and French closed the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay (3:22.97).

Pittsford’s depth was again on display, as the team scored numerous seconds and thirds along with their first place finishes.  Emmett Jacobi, Lee Silverstein, Dan Locke and John Lyman took third for the Panthers in the 200 medley relay. Brandon McManus took second in the 200 free and the 500 free.  McCrobie took third place in the 200 IM and the 100 free.  Locke came in third in the 50 free and second in the 100 fly.  Scott Lasher placed second for the Panthers in the diving completion.  Also, the Panthers junior varsity defeated the Fairport JV by a score of 108-75.

On January 10, Pittsford picked up its seventh straight dual meet victory of the season, defeating Gates Chili, 102-67.  Pink won the 200 free and 100 fly.  Maier was first in the 50 free and the 100 free.  French was the victor in the 200 IM and McCrobie took first in the 500 free.  The Panthers JV also won their meet, 98-47, against the Gates Chili junior varsity.
