Andrew Maier, Kenny Pink, Sean McManus and Dan Locke set a new meet record in the opening 200 medley relay, and the Pittsford Boys Swimming and Diving team went on to win their fifth straight Lockport Sprint Invitational.

The medley time of 1:42.87 edged a record set in 2005, also by Pittsford. It was a good day all around for the Panthers, who accumulated 536 total points to clinch the Lockport championship, with Canisius second with 464 and Clarence third with 286.

Pittsford swimmers came in first in eight of ten events, including two relays. Andrew Kuter won three events for Pittsford, the 100 free (48.93), the 25 free (10.33) and the 50 free (22.40).  Pink was a double winner, taking the 100 yard IM in 56.62, less than 1/10th of a second off the meet record, and the 50 breast (28.73).

With eight teams competing, the top finishers in each event scored points for their teams.  In addition to Kuter’s victory in the 100 free, Nathan French placed third, Tyler McCrobie sixth and Brandon McManus ninth.

Sean McManus was a close second to teammate Pink in the 100 IM.  French was fifth in the event and Lee Silverstein took tenth place.

In the 25 free, Dan Locke added fourth place points to Kuter’s win, with John Lyman sixth and Maier seventh.  Sean McManus was a close second to Locke in the 50 fly, with Silverstein taking sixth place and French coming in seventh.  In the 50 free, Pink was fourth, Locke fifth and Lyman came in 11th.

Maier was second in the 50 back, with Brandon McManus sixth and Emmett Jacobi coming in 13th.  Sean McManus was less than 2/10th of a second behind teammate Pink in the 50 breast, with Silverstein taking eighth place and Owen Drinkwater 14th.

Pittsford closed the meet with a victory in the 200 free relay.  Kuter, McCrobie, Lyman and French turned in a time of 1:32.83, just 3/10th of a second from another meet record.

Earlier in the week, the team elected seniors Kenny Pink and Sean McManus as captains for the 2007/08 season.  They’ll lead the Panthers in defense of their Section 5 crown and their number one ranking in New York State.
