Seven schools competed in the tournament at Owego Free Academy, with the top 16 finishers in individual events and the “A” relay teams scoring points for their teams.
Andrew Kuter was a double winner for Pittsford, taking both the 50 and 100 free events, as the Panthers challenged for the lead in nearly every race.
Matt Lobban, Sean McManus and Kenny Pink teamed up with Kuter to win the opening 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.76. Nate French followed with a second place finish in the 200 free. Also scoring points in the event were Dan Locke (9), John Lyman (11) and Tyler McCrobie (16).
Pink was second in the 200 IM, a half second behind the winner, Alex Kral from Monroe Woodbury. Two Pittsford freshmen also scored in the IM, Lee Silverstein in eighth place and Brandon McManus in eleventh.
Kuter followed with his first victory in the 50 free, with teammate Jimmy Prezzano taking second. Andrew Maier placed sixth and Matt VanVoorhis 16th for the Panthers.
Pittsford’s depth was evident all day, with Sean McManus taking second in the 100 fly, followed by Prezzano (4), Silverstein (9) and Spencer Brown (16).
Other highlights included Kuter’s second win in the 100 free, with Locke taking third and Lyman ninth. The finmen also did well in distance, with French winning the 500 free and Lobban (6), Brandon McManus (8), McCrobie (11) and Emmett Jacobi (12).
The balanced attack continued with Kuter, Prezzano, Locke and Nate French teaming up for first place in the 200 free relay. In the 100 back, Lobban was sixth, Maier seventh and Haas 16th.
Pink’s 1:01.88 took first place in the 100 breast, with teammate Sean McManus coming in second, VanVoorhis ninth and Ben French 12th for the Panthers.
Prezzano, Locke, Pink and Nate French finished the meet with a second place in the 400 free relay, less than a second behind the winning relay team.
In the diving competition, held earlier, Wills DeMoulin was fifth with 311 points. Scott Lasher placed eighth for Pittsford and Alex Byrd was 11th.
Head Coach Mark Morris was pleased with his team’s performance at Owego, especially during a week with two dual meets and hard training. The Panthers will be back at Mendon Pool for a meet against Churchville Chili on December 19.
