PITTSFORD SETS FOUR POOL RECORDS AT HILTON MEET
Pittsford’s swimmers and divers blasted out of the gate in their first dual meet of the season at Hilton on December 7, splashing four pool records and turning in the fastest times in every event.

It was a big day for juniors Andrew Kuter and Kenny Pink. Kuter was involved in three of the records, teaming up with Pink, Matt Lobban and Sean McManus for a time of 1:42.93 in the opening 200 medley relay, nearly a second and a half faster than the previous best time at Hilton. Kuter, Jimmy Prezzano, Dan Locke and Nate French had another pool record (1:31.52) in the 200 free relay, and Kuter’s 50 split time (22:34) in the relay also goes up on the record board. The final record was set by Pink, who turned in a 1:01.40 in the 100 breast, his signature event.

The Panthers swept the top spots in a number of races. In addition to the record in the 200 medley relay, the team of Andrew Maier, Matt VanVoorhis, Prezzano and Alex Hannan took second and Brandon McManus, Ben French, Jeff Parvin and Lee Silverstein came in fourth.

Locke, Kuter and John Lyman followed with a 1,2,3 finish in the 200 yard free. Nate French, Sean McManus, Lobban and Brandon McManus claimed the top four spots in the 200 IM. In the closest race of the day, Pink and Prezzano tied for first in the 50 free at 23.59, followed by Hannan and Nick Haas.

In the diving competition, Alex Byrd was first for the Panthers, Charlie Shaddock came in second and Scott Lasher was third.

Prezzano followed with a victory in the 100 fly, with Locke coming in second. Kuter won the 100 free, with Lyman third and Maier fourth. Nate French won the 500 free, followed by Sean McManus.

In addition to the 200 free relay record, Ben French, Lyman, VanVoorhis and Hannan had the third best time in the event and Silverstein, Ari Kapilivsky, Nick Allwell and Parvin were fourth.

Lobban was the winner of the 100 back for the Panthers, with Maier and Brandon McManus posting the second and third best times. In addition to Pink’s record in the 100 breast, VanVoorhis was second fastest and Silverstein third. Nate French, Sean McManus, Locke and Pink closed the meet with a winning time of 3:29.51 in the 400 free relay.

Pittsford’s junior varsity also had a good day, with Tyler McCrobie winning the 200 free and the 500 free. Josh Kapilivsky won the 200 IM and the 100 back. Owen Drinkwater was also a double winner for the Panthers JV, taking both the 100 free and the 100 breast.
