PITTSFORD DOMINATES FIRST TEAM ALL COUNTY SELECTIONS
Following another championship season, the Pittsford Boys Swimming and Diving team again dominated the Monroe County First Team All County selections, capturing eight of 22 spots.
The announcements were made at the team’s annual banquet at Oak Hill Country Club on March 7, where the team honored its graduating seniors and celebrated what head coach Mark Morris called “an astonishing year.”
Those named to First Team All County included: (seniors) Ben Silverstein, Charlie Ruff and Sean Hingel, (juniors) Jimmy Prezzano, and (sophomores) Kenny Pink, Sean McManus, Andrew Kuter and Nathan French. The Panthers also claimed five of 22 Monroe County Second Team All County honors: (seniors) Derek Lasher, (juniors) Matt Lobban, Matt VanVoorhis, Wills DeMoulin, and (freshman) John Lyman.
Coach Morris presented Varsity letters to a number of members of the team, including the two youngest swimmers, eighth graders Brandon McManus and Lee Silverstein. Also at the banquet, Derek Lasher received the Sportsmanship Award, Nathan French the MVP Award and John Lyman received the Jason Wilcox Scholarship.
The senior captains -- Ben Silverstein, Charlie Ruff, Derek Lasher and Sean Hingel – presented the coaches with custom wood stools engraved with the red and blue Pittsford team logo. The seniors also urged the younger members of the team to carry on the Pittsford winning tradition, what Ruff called "a legend in its own right." Silverstein agreed, saying "what sets Pittsford apart is that Pittsford expects to win... and because they expect to win, they will always be a dominant force" in high school swimming.
