PITTSFORD SWIMS PAST GATES-CHILI, 120-63
Kenny Pink and Sean McManus were double winners for the Panthers as the Pittsford Boys Swimming and Diving team extended its unbeaten streak with a convincing 120-63 victory over Gates-Chili.
Pink was the victor in both the 200 free (1:52.94) and the 100 free (51.50), with two personal best times. McManus took first place in the 200 IM and the 500 free, as Pittsford rolled to its seventh straight dual meet win of the season and ninth win overall, in a contest at Mendon pool on January 12. In addition to taking first in 10 of 12 events, the Panthers also had the top three spots in three events – the 200 free, the 100 breast, and the diving competition.
Ben Silverstein, Sean McManus, Charlie Ruff and Andrew Kuter opened the meet with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay. Then it was Pink, Jimmy Prezzano and Dan Locke going 1,2,3 in the 200 free. Silverstein took the 50 free with a personal best time of 23.89. Sean Hingel won diving with 194.95 points, with Wills DeMoulin in second place with a personal best of 177.75 points, and Ryan McCarthy was third with 140.30.
In one of the closest races of the day, Ruff had a personal best time of 57.55 for second place in the 100 fly, just 7/100th of a second behind the winner from Gates-Chili. Ruff came right back to take first in the 100 backstroke.
Prezzano, Nathan French and Matt VanVoorhis finished 1,2,3 in the 100 breast and John Lyman, Prezzano, Pink and Kuter completed the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay.
Head coach Mark Morris said he gave his boys the opportunity to try different events than they usually swim, and he was pleased by their performance.
Pittsford’s junior varsity dominated its meet, 111-42. Lee Silverstein and Ben Myers were double winners for the JV. L. Silverstein won the 500 free and the 100 breast. Myers took the 100 free and the 100 back. Other individual winners for the JV included Alex Todisco in the 200 free, Brandon McManus in the 200 IM, Jeff Parvin in the 50 free and Spencer Brown in the 100 fly. Alex Byrd, Charlie Shaddock and Scott Lasher finished 1,2,3 in the diving competition. Ben French, Myers, B. McManus and Parvin were the winners of the 200 medley relay.
Pittsford will be on the road in the coming week for meets against Rush Henrietta and Webster.
